10-04-1937 Minutes1 1 1 1 1 199 COMMMI33IONERS PROCEEDINGS.. REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SAL INA, KANSAS.. OCTOBER 4, 1937. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners October 4, 1937. Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Jackson, the roll was called and Commissioners Jackson, Branson, Ferm and Mitchell and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Morgenstern absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 27, 1937, were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims.` i On motion of Commissioner Branson the ordinance was road and adopted by Sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jackson, Branson, Ferm and Mit- chell (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Morgenstern absent. Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4781. The following claim to be paid from Relief HighwayFund was presented for payment: Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk Cash paid out for labor $337.71 On motion of Commissioner Ferm claim was approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation from the Relief Highway Fund for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jackson, Branson, Ferm and Iti7itchell (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Morgenstern absent. Acting i Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4782. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance appro- priating and transferring certain money from the f"laterworks Department Fund to W. P. A. Project Number 6002 Fund." On motion of Commissioner Branson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jackson, Branson, Ferm and Mitchell (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Morgenstern absent. Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4783. A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution relating to 11. P. A. Project Number 6002 Fund." On motion of Commissioner Ferm the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jackson, Branson, Ferm and Mitchell (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Morgenstern absent. Acting Mayor approved the reso- lution and it is numbered 707. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 61 of Reso- lution Book Number 3. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation from V1. P. A. Project Number 6002 Fund for the payment of a certain claim.' On motion of Commissioner Branson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jackson, Branson, Ferm and Mitchell (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Morgenstern absent. Acting 14ayor ap- proved the ordinance and it is numbered 4784. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the paving of Sunset Drive from the west line of Pershing Street to a line parallel with and 125 eet west of the west line of Funston Street, and providing for the cost thereof, how the, same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." 200 On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jackson,Branson, Ferm and Mitchell (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Morgenstern absent. Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4785. Application for taxicab drivers license received from: H. F. Manning Commissioner Ferm moved that application be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. ! I Application for taxicab license received from: E Bell Taxi Company, Operator Clarence Rowson, Owner i i On motion of Commissioner Branson action on same was de- ferred until insurance endorsement has been received. Motion adopted. i Commissioner Mitchell moved $i at a building permit be issued to R. R. Reed for the construction of a residence on Ellsworth Avenue between Ninth Street and Highland Avenue, with set -back as indicated on plans. Motion adopted. Commissioner Ferm moved that application of Kansas Landscape and Nursery Company asking for approval of plans for the construction of a building on East Iron Avenue be approved by the Board of Commis- sioners. Motion adopted. A petition was received from taxicab drivers in the City of Salina, Kansas, asking for an increas e in taxicab fares. Same was ordered f sled. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to taxicabs and amending Section 3 and Section 4 of Ordinance No. 2948 and Section 1 of Ordinance No. 3306 and Section 2 of Ordinance No. 4625, as amended by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 4633, and repealing said original sections." Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Branson the Board of Commission- ers adjourned.
