Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Jackson, the roll was called and Commissioners Jackson. Branson, Fern and Mitchell and i City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Morgenstern absent. 1 { ' The minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 4, 1937 were read and approved as read. i An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Ferm the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its finaledoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jackson, Branson, Fern and Mitchell j (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner g+Iorgenstern absent. Acting Mayor ap- proved the ordinance and it is numbered 4786. A petition was presented asking for the curbing and guttering of Seventh Street from the north line of Pacific Street to the south line of Harsh Street. Same was referred to the City Engineer. A petition was presented asking for the construction of a sidewalk on the north side of Kirwin Avenue from the east line of Eleventh Street to the west line of Ninth Street. Same was referred to the City Engineer. Application for taxicab drivers license received from: Geo. R. Boyer On motion of Commissioner Fern application was approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motionadopted. Application for taxicab license received as follows: DeLuxe Cab Company, Operator B. H. Fisher, Owner Cab #40 On motion of Commissioner Branson action on same was deferred until insurance endorsement has been filed. Motion adopted. A communication relating to taxicab franchise was received from W. B. McMickle, Same was read and ordered filed. A communication relating to the proposed increase in annual city dues to The League of Kansas Municipalities was received from The League of Kansas Municipalities. Same was read and ordered filed. Application of J. V'1. Sprout for approval of plans and of set -back of 17 feet from Eleventh Street, on building to be erected on Lot 3 and north 10 feet of Lot 5, Block 11, Pacific Addition. Commissioner Branson moved that application be approved. Motion adopt- ed. Application of J. gid. Spf'out for permission to construct wooden shed ori Lots 5 and 7. Block 11, Pacific Addition was presented. Commissioner Branson moved application be Granted. Motion adopted. Commissioner Fern moved that application of 4. J. Elliott for permission to move house at Ninth Street and Ash Street (313 Nest Ash Street) in two parts, to 714 West Iron Avenue be granted, Motion carried. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating, to taxicabs and amending Section 3 and Section 4 of Ordinance No. 2948 and Section 1 of Ordinance No. 3306 and Section 2 of Ordinance No. 4625, as amended by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 4633, and repealing said original sections." On motion of Commissioner Fern the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was calledand the following; vote was had; Ayes: Jackson, Branson, Fern and Mitchell (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner %.,IorGens tern absent. Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is niunbered 4787. 202 City Erjgineer submitted plans and specifications and estimate of cost for the paving of Sunset Drive from the west line of Pershing Street to a line parallel with and 125 feet gest of the west line of Fun— stop Street. i Commissioner Branson moved that plans and specifications and estimate of cost be approved by the Board of Commissioners, and that the City Clerk be instructed to adve-otise for bids for such work, bids to be received up to and including Monday, October 18, 1937 at 4:30 P. r12.
