COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.

JULY 12, 1937.
Regular meeting'of the Board of Commissioners of the City
of Salina, Kansas; July 12, 1937. Meeting was called to order by
Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgenstern,
Branson, Fern, Mitchell and Jackson and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Special Meeting of July 6, 1937 and Regular
1+eeting of July 6, 1937 were read and approved as read.
I An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner 11itchell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; AyVs: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferns,
Jackson and Kitchell (5) Nags: (OJ 1,layor approved the ordinance
and it is numbered 4762.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 3188 by adding certain territory
to the "C" Commercial Distri ct as defined by Section 5 of said ordinance
and defining and restricting the uses of the territory added to sAld
district."
On motion of Connissioner Jackson the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Fern,
Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance
and it is numbered 4763.
City Engineer submitted Final Estimate of Cost for the
curbing, guttering and grading of:
Custer Street from the south line of Crawford to the
north line of Republic Avenue;
Eleventh Street from the north line of Frost Street to the
north line of Republic Avenue; and
Phillips Street from the south line of Prescott Avenue to
the north line of Charles Street.
On motion of Conmissioner Fern estimates viere approved by
the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apport oning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of E;round in the City of Salina
to pay the cost of curbing and guttering Custer Street from Crawford
to Republic Avenue; Eleventh Street from Frost Street to Republic
Avenue; Phillips Street from Prescott to Charles Street." Same was
referred to the Board of Commissioners.
Applications for pool hall license for the last half of
1937 received as follows:
The Rex Smoker
Geo. Holzmeister
Club Royal
Matt Price
U. E. Ruhl
On motion of Commissioner Branson the above named pool hall
applications were approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion
adopted.
Application for taxicab license for the balance of 1937
received as follows:
Bell Taxi Company, Operator V. W. Fowler, Ovrner Cab No., 29
On motion of Commissioner Jackson application was approved
by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.

City Engineer submitted plans and specifications and estimate
of cost for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Number 154 and
174. On motion of Coriimis s ioner Jackson same were approved by the
Board of Cor7missioners . Motion adopted.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled:
"A Resolution relating; to the construction of certain sideialks in the
City of Salina'*' Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners.

A resolution was introduced for first reading
to the curb entitled:
"A Resolution relating n�, curbing, guttering and grading Jev�ell
3 Avenue from the west line of Tenth Street to the east line of
Pershing Street on the south side of Jewell; and from the gest line
of Lot R>u.r (4) Block Eight (a) highland (hurt Addition to the east
line of Pershing Street on the north side of Jewell Avenue." Same
was referred to the Board of Cormalssioners.
