Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 1, 1937.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called
and Commissioners Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell and
City Attorney Norris responded.

The minutes of the Special Meeting ing of May 24, 1937 and
Regular Meeting of May 24, 1937 were read and approved as read.

An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Itilorgenstern, Branson, Ferm,
Jackson and Mitchell (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and
it is numbered 4751.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled:
"A Resolution relating to the construction of certain sidewalks in the
City of Salina."
On motion of Commissioner Jackson the resolution was adopted
as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following
vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm, Jackson and Mitchell
(5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered
695.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 41 to 44
inclusive, Resolution Book Number 3.
Application for taxicab license received as follows:

Commissioner Branson moved that application be approved by
the Board of Commissioners. Lotion adopted.
The following applications for Cereal Malt Beverage License
were presented, and on motion of Commissioner Jackson were approved by
the Board of Commissioners, and the City Clerk was directed to issue
license to the applicants as follows:

Commissioner Branson moved that deed be accepted by the Board
of Commissioners and that the City Treasurer be instructed to place
the deposit in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery Endowment Fund as provided by
Ordinance Number 3530 of the City of Salina, Kansas. Motion adopted.
City Engineer submitted Final Estimate of Cost for the
recurb ing, reguttering and paving of:
Eighth Street from Ash Street to Iron Avenue,
Eighth Street from Iron Avenue to Walnut Street.

for the curbing and guttering of:
Connecticut Avenue from Iron Avenue to Johnstown Avenue,
Oakdale Avenue from Elm Street to a point 550 feet north of Elm,
Kirwin Avenue from Highland Avenue to Ninth Street,
Phillips Street from Crawford Avenue to Charles Street, and
for the paving of the unpaved portion of Ninth Street from Jewell Avenue
to Cloud Street.

Commissioner Branson moved that Final Estimates of Cost
be approved by the Board of Commissioners. 11otion adopted.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of a
sewer in the alley between Chicago Street and Olive Street from
University Place to Marietta Street. Same was referred to the City
Engineer and to the City Manager,
A Demand for Possession for 36,000 feet of railway rails
and 9,000 railway ties was received from the Salina Street Railway
Company. Commissioner Branson moved that same be rejected. Motion
adopted.
Commissioner Branson moved that the City limits ordinance be
re -drafted to follow the old channel of Dry Creek. Motion adopted.
P. Morton appeared before the Board of Commissioners in
regard to _notiov served on him. Commissioner Ferm moved that
hearing be postponed until Monday, June 7, 1937 at 4:30 P. 1A. Motion
adopted;�nd hearing on revocation of Cereal Malt Beverage License of P.
Morton continued to June 7, 1937 at 4:30 P. X.
.ylayor idorgenstern submitted the name of E. A. Hiller as a
member of the Welfare Board for a term of five years from May 21,
1937. Commissioner Mitchell moved that appointment be confirmed by
the Board of Commissioners. 1rlotion adopted.

"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of
Salina to pay the cost of curbing and guttering Phillips Street
from Charles S reet to Crawford Avenue; Kirwin Avenue from Ninth
Street to Highland Avenue; Oakdale Avenue from Elm Street to a
point 550 feet north of Elm Street; Connecticut Avenue from Iron
Avenue to Johnstown. Avenue; paving the unpaved portion of Ninth Street
from Jewell Avenue to Cloud Street; recurbing and reguttering and
paving of Eighth Street from Ash Street to Iron Avenue and Eighth
Street from Iron Avenue to Walnut Street." Same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the Board of Commission-
ers adjourned.
City Clerk
