Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners May 17, 1937.
Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Jackson, the roll was
called and Commissioners Branson, Ferm,. Jackson and Mitchell and City
Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Morgenstern absent.
The- =Iiiutes - of the Regular Meeting of May lU, 1937 were read
and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment'of certain claim .11
On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its finaladoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Branson, Ferm, Jackson and
Mitchell (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner 1,iorgenstern absent. Acting
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4747.
The following claims to be paid from Relief Highway Fund were
presented for payment:
Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk Cash paid out for freight &
express 8622.77
Putnam Sand & Bldg. Co. Sand 23.76
Leidigh & Havens Lumber Co. Cement16,00
Total - - - - - - -- 662.53
On motion of Commissioner Branson claims were allowed by the
Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation from the Relief Highway Fund for the payment of
certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final doption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Branson, Ferm. Jackson and Mitchell
(4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Morgenstern absent. Acting Mayor Jackson
E approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4748.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance providing that certain platted and unplatted tracts of land
which adjoin the present limits of the City of Salina be added to, taken
into and :made parts of the City of Salina; extending the limits of said
City to include said added lands; defining the corporate limits of said
City as extended; and repealing all ordinances and parts of ordinances
in conflict with this ordinance."
On motion of Commissioner Ferm the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the followsvote was had; Ayes: Jackson, Branson, Ferm and Mitchell
(4) Nays: �O) Commissioner Morgenstern absent. Acting Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is numbered 4749.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance amending Ordinance Number 3188 by adding certain territory
to the "C" Commercial District as defined by Section 5 of said ordinance
and defining and restricting the uses of the territory added to said
district."
On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Jackson, Branson, Ferm and Mitchell
(4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Morgenstern absent. Acting Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is numbered 4750.
The following applications for Cereal Malt Beverage License
were presented, and on motion of Commissioner Ferm were approved by the
Board of Commissioners and the City Clerk was directed to issue licenses
to the applicants as follows:

Commissioner Mitchell moved that applications be approved by
the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
Trust Deed, with a deposit of $100.00 for perpetual care
of Lot 48, Block 3, in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery of Salina, Kansas, re-
ceived from Walter A. Ross.
Commissioner Branson moved that deed be accepted by the
j Board of Commissioners and that the City Treasurer be instructed to
j place the deposit in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery Endowment Fund as pro-
vided by Ordinance Number 3530 of the City of Salinaq Kansas. Iuiotion
adopted.

A petition was presented asking for the paving of Sunset
Drive from the end of paving at intersection of Sunset Drive and
Pershing west to entrance of Sunset Park. Same was referred to the
City Manager and to the City Engineer.
A petition was presented asking for the curbing and guttering
of Eleventh Street from Jewell Avenue to Kirwin Avenue. Same was
referred to the City Manager and City Engineer,
Acting Mayor Jackson submitted the names of F. S. Dyar and
Chas. H. Bren as members of the City Planning Uommission for a term
of three years from May 1, 1937, Commissioner Branson moved that
appointments be confirmed by the Board of Commissioners. Motion
adopted.
The appraisers reports for the curbing and guttering of:
Connecticut Avenue from Iron Avenue to Johnstown Avenue;
Kirwin Avenue from Ninth Street to Highland Avenue;
Oakdale Avenue from Elm Street to a point 550 feet north
of Elm Street;
Phillips Street from Charles Street to Crawford Avenue; and
for recurbing, reguttering and paving of:
Eighth Street from Ash Street to Iron Avenue;
Eighth Street from Iron Avenue to Walnut Street; and for
paving of the unpaved portion of:
Ninth Street from Jewell Avenue to Cloud Street,
were received, and on motion of Commissioner Mitchell, Monday, May
24, 1937 at 4:30 was designated as a Special Meeting at which time
the reports will be taken up and acted on by the Board of Commissioners
and the City Clerk was instructed to publish notice of such meeting
in the official City paper as provided by law. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Branson City Clerk was instructed to
advertise for bids for Refreshment Privileges in Oakdale Park during the
Swimming Pool season of 1937, bids to be received up to and including
Monday, May 24, 1937 at 4:30 P. M.
On motion of Commissioner Ferm the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
