Application for taxicab drivers license received from:

Commissioner Morgenstern moved that application be approved
by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
Application for license to sell malt and cereal beverages
in the City of Salina received from:

Commissioner Surface moved that application be approved by
the Board of Commissioners, Motion adopted.
A petition was presented asking for the curbing and butter -
Ing of Ellsworth Street from the end of the existing curb and gutter
west of Highland Circle to the east line of Pershing Street; also
on the east side of Pershing Street from the north line of Ellsworth
Street north to connect with existing curb and gutter. Commissioner
Jackson moved that petition be granted by the Board of Commissioners.
Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced fgr first reading entitled:
"An ordinance repealing Section 5 of Ordinance Number 4716 relating
to the curbing, guttering and grading~of Eleventh Street from
r Frost Street to Republic Avenue." Same was referred to the Board
M of Commissioners.
Mayor Peters submitted :the name of A. C. Brodine as a
member of the Memorial Hall Board for a term of three years from
April 1, 1937. Commissioner Morgenstern moved that appointment be
confirmed by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners April 5,
1937. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Peters, the roll was
called and Commissioners Peters, Jackson, Mitchell, Morgenstern
and Surface and City A ttorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the negular Meeting of March 29, 1937
were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of certain claims.'
On motion of Commissioner Jackson the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Petrs, Jackson,
Mitchell, Morgenstern and Surface (5) Na ys: (0� Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is numbered 4731. ^
The following claim to be paid from Relief Highway Fund
was presented for payment:
Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk, Cash paid out for labor $895.11
On motion of Commissioner Surface the above -claim was
approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled. "An ordinance making
an appropriation from the Relief Highway Rznd for the payment of a

certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll wascalled
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell,
ylorgenstern and Surface (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance
and it is numbered 4732,

A communication was received from the County Treasurer
in reference to compromise of taxes on Lots 1 and 2, Block 1
Southern Heights Addition to Salina, Kansas, for the sum of 4110.00.
Commissioner Surface moved that a compromise of not less than
$200.00 be accepted. Motion adopted.
Commissioner Surface moved that Taxicab Drivers License
No. 49, issued to Leonard Mayo January 26, 1937 and revoked by the
Board of Commissioners February 22, 1937, be reinstated. Alotion
adopted.
Commissioner Surface moved that J. H. Moore., Jr. be
granted a special permit.to construct an iron covered building at
the corner of Seventh and Elm Streets, Motion adopted*
On motion of Commissioner Surface the Board of Commis-
sioners adjourned.
