Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners March 15, 1937.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Peters the roll was called and
Commissioners Peters, Jackson, Mitchell, Morgenstern and Surface and
City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 8, 1937 were read
and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of certain claims.
On motion of Commissioner Jackson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell,
Morgenstern and Surface (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance
and it is numbered 4727.

The following claims to be paid from Relief Highway Fund
were presented for payment:
Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk, Cash paid out for labor $302.16
E.L.Larson Lumber � Coal Co. Cement 72.75
Putnam Sand & Bldg. Co. Sand 33.49
On motion of Commissioner Jackson the above claims were ap-
proved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation from the Relief Highway Fund for the payment of
certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell,
Morgenstern and Surface (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance
and it is numbered 4728.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled:
"A Resolution relating to the curbing and guttering and grading of
Park Street from the west line of Missouri Pacific Railroad to the
east line of Chicago Street*"
On motion of Commissioner Morgenstern the resolution was
adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had- Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell,
Morgenstern and Surface (51 Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resole -
tion and it is numbered 683.
The above resolution is recorded in full on rage 29 of Reso-
lution Book Number 3,
City Engineer reported favorable on the petition asking
for the construction of a sewer on Merrill Street from Crawford
Avenue to Venango Street.
Commissioner Surface moved that same be adopted by the —
Board of Commissioners subject to the approval of application of
Works Progress Administration, and that the City Engineer be instruct-
ed to prepare plans and specifications for such work. Motion adopted.
Application for license to sell malt and cereal beverages
in the City of Salina received as follows:

Earl Stagg, d/b/a Mack's Cafe, 154 North Santa Fe Avenue

Commissioner Jackson moved that application be approved by
the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance amending Sections 4 and 5 of Ordinance No. 3802 entitled,
'An ordinance relating to and regulating the business of buying, sell-
ing, storing and collecting and otherwise dealing in junk as herein
defined, classifying junk dealers, providing for and requiring licenses
therefor, providing penalties for the violation of this ordinance and
repealing Ordinance Number 2071relatin6 to junk dealers and repealing
said original Sections 4 and 5 of said ordinance and adding an addition-
al section thereto, and repealing Ordinance No. 4719."

J. A. Wymore appeared before the Board of Commissioners
and asked permission to construct four new tourist cabins at Shellway
Lodge on East Pacific Street. Permission was granted by the Board
of Commissioners.
Mayor Peters submitted the names of the following Judges
and Clerks for the Primary Election of March 29, 1937 and the
Regular City Election of April 6, 1937:
