Regular mee ting of the Board of Commissioners March 8, 1937.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Peters, the roll was called and
Commissioners Peters, Jackson, Mitchell, Morgenstern and Surface and
City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 1, 1937 were
read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance relating to and prohibiting the running, placing, pouring,
or draining of oil or grease or any similar substance into any sewer
or into any street or alley or into any river or creek in the City of
Salina and providing for a penalty for the violation of this ordi-
nance .`k
On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell, j
Morgenstern and Surface (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance i
and it is numbered 4726.

A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled:
"A Resolution relating to the curbing and guttering and grading of
Prescott Avenue from the west line of Twelfth Street west to a
point 124 feet west of the west line of Phillips Street north of
Prescott Avenue, and the west line of Phillips Street south of
Prescott Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner Morgenstern the resolution was ;
adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell,
Morgenstern and Surface (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution
and it is numbered 682.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 28, Resolution
Book Number 3.
Application for taxicab drivers license received from:
„,Russell E. Pruett
Commissioner Surface moved that application be approved
by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
Application for license to sell malt and cereal beverages
in the City of Salina received from:
RETAIL CLASS "A" MALT & CEREAL BEVERAGE DEALERS LICENSE
Albert Smith, d/b/a,Smith's Lunch, 209 N. Santa Fe
Commissioner Jackson moved that application be approved by
the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
A petition was presented asking for the curbing and guttering
of 'ark Street from Missouri Pacific Railroad to Chicago Street,
Commissioner Surface moved that same be granted. Motion adopted. i _
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled:
"A Resolution relating to the curbing and guttering and grading of
Park Street from the west line of the Missouri Pacific Railroad to the
east line of Chicago Street.ifi Same was referred to the Board of
Commissioners.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of a
sanitary sewer on Merrill Street from Venango Street to Crawford
Street. Same was referred to the City Engineer.

A petition was presented asking for the paving of Republic
Avenue from Ninth Street one block west to Tenth Street. Same was
referred to the City Manager and to the City Engineer.

1937 received as follows:

On motion of Commissioner Jackson pool hall applications
were approved by the Board of Commissioners. kotion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance amending Sections 4 and 5 of Ordinance Number 3802 entitled,
"An
ordinance relating to and regulating the business of buying,
selling, storing and collecting and otherwise dealing in junk as
herein defined, classifying junk dealers, providing for and requiring
licenses therefor, providing penalties for the violation of this
ordinance and repealing ordinance Number 2071 relating to junk dealers",
and repealing said original Sections 4 and 5 of said Ordinance and
addin§ an additional section thereto, and repealing Ordinance Number
4719. Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
City Manager reported that Roy A. Smith had tendered his
resignation as Police Judge of the City of Salina, Kansas, and that
same had been accepted.
On motion of Commissioner Surface the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
