Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners February
15, 1937. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Peters, the roll
was called and Commissioners Peters, Jackson, Mitchell, Morgenstern
and Surface and City Attorney Norris responded. i
The minutes of the Regular :Ieeting of r'ebruary 8, 1937
were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner NiorL enstern the ordinance was
read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll
was called and the following vote was had; Ays: Peters, Jackson,
Mitchell, Morgenstern and Surface (5) Nays: 70) Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is numbered 4720.
The following claims to be paid from Relief Highway Fund
were presented for payment:

On motion of Commissioner Surface the resolution was adopt-
ed as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the i

and Surface (5 ) Nays: (0 Mayor approved the resolution and it is
numbered 678.

On motion of Commissioner Jackson the resolution was adopted
as,read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the follow-
ing vote was had; Ayes; Peters, Jackson, Mitchell, Morgenstern and
Surface (5) Nays; 0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is
numbered 679.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 25 Resolu-
tion Book Number 3.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled; "'An
ordinance relating to and prohibiting the running, placing, pouring
or draining of oil or grease or any similar substance into any sewer
or into any street or alley or into any river or creek in the City of
Salina and providing for a penalty for the violation of this ordinance."
Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
Applications for taxicab drivers license received as follows: f

Commissioner Surface moved that application received from
Fred R. Hollis be granted; and that application received from John
Buchenau be rejected. Motion adopted.
A petition was presented asking for the narrowing of the
parking on the east side of Sheridan atreet from Wilson to Republic
and for a 4 foot sidewalk instead of a 5 foot sidewalk.
Commissioner Jackson moved that the request of narrowing the
parking be granted; and that the matter of width of sidewalk be re-
ferre d to the City Manager and to the City Engineer. Motion
adopted.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of
curbing and guttering ori Custer Street from Crawford Avenue to
Republic Avenue. Same was referred to the City Engineer.
Deed for the sale of crypts numbered 506 and 507 in the
Hillcrest Mausoleum to W. K. Putnam was received. Commissioner Sur-
face moved that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign deed
and deliver the same to Mr. Putnam. Motion adopted.
Commissioner Surface moved that the contract for auditing j
the City's records be let to Farmers Union Auditing Association, E
with the understanding that a certified accountant be employed to
assist with the work. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Surface the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
