Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners January 25, j
1937. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Peters, the roll was
called and Commissioners Peters, Jackson, Mitchell, Morgenstern and
Surface and City Attorney Norris responded.

The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 18, 1937
were read and approved as read.
Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1937
received as follows:
Lloyd Cook Wm. 0. Bush
Jake Porter R. M. Akins
Ernest A. Phillips Leonard E. Mayo
A. E. Cooper Clyde Wakefield
On motion of Commissioner Jackson applications were approved
by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
Applications for license to sell malt and cereal beverages
in the City of Salina received as follows:
RETAIL CLASS 'A" MALT & CEREAL BEVhRAGE DEALERS LICENSE
Fleming's Cafe, 512 North Ninth Street
Cahill Food Store, 211 West Ash Street
Lamer Pharmacy, 201 N. Santa Fe Avenue
Commissioner Surface moved that the above applications
be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
RETAIL CLASS "B" MALT &- CEREAL BEVERAGE DEALERS LICLNSE
Grammar's Candy Shop, 145 North Santa Fe Avenue
Edelweiss Lunch, 151 North Santa Fe Avenue
Commissioner Surface moved that the above applications be
approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.

Cultra Company, Third & Elm Streets
Commissioner Surface moved that the above application be
approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance amending Sections 4 and 5 of Ordinance Number 3802
entitled, "An ordinance relating to and regulating the business
of buying, selling, storing and collecting and otherwise dealing
in junk as herein defined, classifying junk dealers, providing
for and requiring licenses therefor, providing penalties for the
violation of this ordinance and repealing Ordinance Number 2071
relating to junk dealers`, and repealing said original sections 4
and 5 of said ordinance and adding an additional section thereto."
Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
Report was made that protest against the curbing and guttering
of Eleventh Street from Frost Stree t to Republic Avenue is insuf-
ficient. Commissioner Surface moved that same be approved by
the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
Commissioner Surface movecj that the City Manager cooperate
with Mr. Ed. Bachtold in rhw matter of constructing a manhole around
the well located on Eleventh Street between Forst Street and Republic
Avenue. Motion adopted.

An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering and grading of
Phillips Street from Charles Street to Crawford Avenue; Kirwin Avenue
from Ninth Street to Highland Avenue; Oakdale Avenue from Elm Street
to a point 550 feet north of Elm Street; Connecticut Avenue from
Iron Avenue to Johnstown Avenue; Eleventh Street from Frost Street to
Republic Avenue; and for the paving of the unpaved portion of Ninth
Street from Jewell Street to Cloud Street; and for the recurbing and
reguttering and the paving of a portion of Eighth Street from Ash
Street to Iron Avenue • and from ue t Walnut Streetth ro-

assessed and the manner of payment therefor." Referred to Board of
Commissioners.

A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled:
"A Resolution relating to the curbing and guttering and grading
of the south side of Republic Avehue from the west line of Funston
Street, west to the east line of the right -of -way of the Missouri
Pacific Railroad Company.Same was referred to the Board of
Commissioners.

Commissioner Trlorgenstern moved that applications received
from F. G. Sealey, Robert F. Taylor and R. M. Akins be approved
by the Board of Commissioners; and that the application of Ernest
A. Phillips be referred to the City Attorney. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Surface the Board of Commission-
ers adjourned to meet in Regular Session, January 27, 1937, at
1:30 P. M.
