JANUARY 18, 1937.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners January 18,
1937. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Peters, the roll was
called and Commissioners Peters, Mitchell, and Surface and City
Attorney Norris responded. Commissioners Jackson and Morgenstern
absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 11, 1937
were read and approved as read.
An ordinance w as introduced entitled; "An ordinance mak-
ing an appropriation for the payment of certain claims.'

On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Mitchell and Sur-
face (3) Nays: 10) Commissioners Jackson and Morgenstern absent.
Mayor approved th5 ordinance and it is numbered 4714.
The following claims to be paid from Relief -highway
Fund were presented for payment:
Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk, Cash paid out for labor X1112.49
Putnam Sand & Building Co. Sand 169.84
The Texas Company Asphalt 45.16
Commissioner Surface moved that claims be approved by the
Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.

An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak- j
ing an appropriation from the Relief Highway Fund for the payment
of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Surface the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll w as
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Mitchell and
Surface (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Jackson and Morgenstern
absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4715.
City Attorney and City Engineer made report on protest
against the curbing and guttering of Eleventh Street from Frost j
Street to Republic Avenue, that protest is insufficient.
Commissioner Surface moved that action on the protest
be deferred one week. Motion adopted.
Application for license to sell malt and cereal bever-
ages in the City of Salina received as follows:

cations be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Iolotion adopted.
Commissioner Surface moved that the application of
Francis L. Fleming for Class "A" Beverage Dealers License, present-
ed to the Board of Commissioners January 11, 1937 be rejected.
Motion adopted.
Commissioner Surface moved that the application of Walter
V. Emmons, d/b/a Station Smoker, presented to the Board of Commis-
sioners January 11, 1937 be approved. Motion adopted.

adopted.

sented to the Board of Commissioners January 11, 1937 were approved
by the Board of Commissioners: Motion made by Commissioner Surface,
and adopted by the Board of Commissioners.
