COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
JANUARY 11, 1937.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners January
11, 1937. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Peters, the roll
was called and Commissioners Mitchell, Peters, and Morgenstern and
City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioners Jackson and Surface
absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 4, 1937
were rea d and approved as read.
A Resolution was introduced for second reading entitled:
'''A Resolution providing for the abandonment of certain condemnation
proceedings*"
On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the resolution was
adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Mitchell and Morgen-
stern (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Jackson and Surface absent.
Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 676.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 22 of
Resolution Book Number 3,.

proved by the Board of Commissioners.

Commissioner Morgenstern moved that applications be approved
by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
Application of Walter V. Emmons, d/b/a Station Smoker for
Class "A" License; and Francis L. Fleming, d/b/a Flemings Cafe
for Class "A " License, were held for investigation and report by
the rolice Department. Motion adopted.
Application of Ben Hill for Class "B" License was held up
on account of sign on window violating city ordinance.
A remonstrance was presented protesting against the curb-
ing and guttering of Eleventh Street from Frost Street to Republic
Avenue. Same was referred to the City Attorney and City Engineer
for check of area and legal ownerships, for report next Monday.
Mayor Peters submitted the name of C. H. Gawthrop as'a
member of the Board of Trustees of the Salina Municipal Band for
a term of three years from January 1, 1937. On motion of Commis-
sioner Morgenstern the appointment was confirmed by the Board of
Commissioners. Motion adopted.
Mayor Peters submitted the names of Fred D. Kastner and
Raymond Gebhart as members of the Waterworks Advisory Board for a
term of three years from January 1, 1937. On motion of Commissioner
Morgenstern the appointments were confirmed by the Board of Commission-
ers. Motion adopted. a
Mayor Peters submitted the names of FI. D. Miller and Theo.
P. Viorsley, Jr. as members of the Board of Directors of the Gypsum
Hill Cemetery, for a term of three years from January 1, 1937. On
motion of Commissioner Morgenstern the appointments were confirmed
by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance amending Sections 4 and5 of Ordinance No. 3802
entitled "An ordinance relating to and regulating the business of
buying, selling, storing and collecting and otherwise dealing in
junk as herein defined, classifying junk dealers, providing for
and requiring licenses therefor, providing penalties for the viola-
tion of this ordinance and repealing Ordinance Number 2071 relating
to junk dealers," and repealing said original sections 4 and 5 of said
ordinance and adding an additional section thereto." Same was
ref erre d to the Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the Board of Commission-
ers adjourned.
