11-09-1936 Minutes1 ALE COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. j COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. NOVEMBER 9, 1936. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners November 9, 1936. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Peters, the roll was called and Commissioners Peters, Jackson, Mitchell, Morgenstern and Surface and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of November 2, 1936 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: '"An ordinance appro- priating and transferring a certain sum of money from City of Salina Sewer Fund to Waterworks Department Fund in the City Treasury, in part payment of a Temporary Note.' On motion of Commissioner Morgenstern the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell, Morgenstern and Surface (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4694. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance amending Section 45 of Ordinance No. 4476 relating to and regulating the use, operation and parking of vehicles in the streets of the City of Salina and repealing said original section** On motion of Commissioner Surface the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell, Mor- genstern and Surface (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4695. Mr, H. N. Lamme submitted his resignation as City Engineer of the City of Salina, Kansas as follows: Salina, Kansas, September 21, 1936. Mr. H. L. Brown, City Manager, City of Salina, Kansas. Dear Herb: This letter will confirm my verbal resignation as City Engineer, to become effective as of October 15, 1936, or at such time that my successor is appointed. I deeply regret leaving the employ of the City of Salina, for I can truthfully say that ! my relations with yourself, city commissioners and other employees have been very enjoyable, and hope that my services have been to your satisfaction at all times. 01 If at any time in the future I can be of assistance in any capacity, such as acquainting my successor with the duties of this office, I shall be glad to be given the opportunity to render such service. Very truly yours, j (Signed) H. N. Lamme City Engineer Commissioner Surface moved that resignation be accepted to take effect November 15, 1936. Motion adopted. -- Commissioner Surface moved that the Mayor be instructed to write a letter to Mr. Lamme expressing the Commissioners appreci- ation of his services. Motion adopted. City Manager submitted the name of E. W. Hopkins as City Engineer to fill vacancy created by the resignation of H. N. Lamme. On motion of Commissioner Morgenstern appointment was confirmed by the Board of Commissioners. 1 E 1 1 A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Connecticut Avenue from the north line of Iron Avenue to the south line of Johnstown Avenue.' Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled' "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Oakdale Avenue from the north line of Elm Street thence north 550 feet to the north line of Lot 21, Block 12 Riverside Park Addition extended west." Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Surface the Board of Commissioners adjourned. City Clerk. 81
