The meeting of the Salina Public Library Board of Trustees was held at 7:00 a.m. on March 15, 2022, in the Prescott
Room.
The following Board members were present: David Greiser, Brendan Burke, Judy Nold, Susan Kelly, Lisa Mahler,
Gerry Cox, Dr. Trent Davis and Danielle Brown. Others present were Melanie Hedgespeth, Amy Adams and Sandy
Wilcox.

22-09 On a motion made by Gerry Cox and seconded by Lisa Mahler, it was RESOLVED THAT: The Board of
Trustees of the Salina Public Library approves the consent agenda. Motion passed unanimously.

DISCUSSION/ACTION
Directors Report:
The collections team is looking into usage and possibly adjusting funding as needed between fiction and nonfiction .
Circulation continues to go up. We have a kick off party planned for the beginning of Summer @ the Library.
We’ve had a few more security incidents this month. We are working with Bywater to help us set up a branded app
for the library. We are also working on an enhancement to be able to send text messages for library cards that are
about to expire. The short stories are being moved into the regular collection.
Discussion was held in regards to CKLS.
The Board reviewed how CKLS funds the libraries within our system.
The door at the McKenzie center will be getting replaced due to the damage sustained during inclement weather.
Melanie sent info to the Board on Policy Manual changes and asked if the Board had any questions or edits to these
policies.

22-10 On a motion made by David Greiser and seconded by Susan Kelly, it was RESOLVED THAT: The Board of
Trustees of the Salina Public Library approves the changes to the policies as presented. Motion passed unanimously.

Melanie is working on pay scales and reviewing the current market.
Assistant Director Report: Amy spoke to the board about the donor levels for the youth services department
remodel campaign. The committee is also working on compiling a list of individuals to approach for donations.
Board appointments: Nominating Committee
Danielle asked for volunteers to serve on the nominating committee. Brendan Burke and Lisa Mahler volunteered to
serve.
22-11 On a motion made by Dr. Davis and seconded by Judy Nold, it was RESOLVED THAT: The Board of Trustees
of the Salina Public Library approves to appoint Brendan Burke and Lisa Mahler to the nominating committee.
