COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
JULY 22, 1936.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners July 22, 1936.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Peters, the roll was called and
Commissioners Peters, Jackson and Morgenstern and City Attorney Nor-
ris responded. Commissioners Surface and Mitchell absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 6, 1936 and
Regular Meeting of July 13, 1936 were read and approved as read.

An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of certain claims.*
On motion of ComYaissioner Jackson the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ages: Peters, Jackson and Morgen-
stern (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Surface and Mitchell absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4660.
The following claims to be paid from Relief Highway Fund
were presented for payment:
Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk Cash paid out for labor $282.30
Leidigh & Havens Lumber Co. Cement 64.80
Lee Hardware Company Supplies 19.48
Putnam Sand & Building Co. Sand 16.20
A. C. Everhart Ballast 4.20
Commissioner Jackson moved that the above claims be approved
by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation from the Relief Highway Rmd for the payment of
certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Morgenstern the ordinance was
read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson and
Morgenstern (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Surface and Mitchell
absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4661.
Application for license to sell malt and cereal beverages
in the City of Salina received as follows:

Commissioner Morgenstern moved that the above applications
be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
Applications for taxicab drivers license received from:

Roy Gray Fred Kesler
Commissioner Jackson moved that the applications of Roy Gray,
Henry Bugher and Fred Kesler be approved by the Board of Commissioners,
and that the application of Clarence Lynn, Jr. be rejected on account
of applicant being under 20 years of age. Motion adopted.
Commissioner Morgenstern moved that taxicab drivers license
issued to Loy Buchenau, Louis J. Schuller and Clare L. Howard be can-
oelled on account of applicants being under 21 years of age. Motion
adopted.
Application for taxicab drivers license received from
R. M. Akins. Commissioner Morgenstern moved that application be ap-
proved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
Application for Pool Hall License for the last half of
1936 received as follows:
The Rex Smoker, 134 North Santa Fe Avenue
Club Royal, 115 S. Santa Fe Avenue
Clayton Hotel Pool Hall, Clayton Hotel
Commissioner Jackson moved that the above applications be
approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.

Application for sign to be erected on south wall at west
portion of building located on Lot 138, South Santa Fe A enue was re-
ceived from Roger's Poster Service, Commissioner Morgenstern moved
that application be held up until the fence on East Ash Street be
repaired. Motion adopted.
A petition was presented asking for the installation of a
White Way lighting system on Eighth Street from Ash Street to Iron
Avenue. Same was ordered filed.
A petition was presented asking for two-hour parking zone
on Eighth Street from Ash Street to Iron Avenue. Same was ordered filed.
A petition was presented asking for the widening of Eighth
Street from Ash Street to Iron Avenue. Same was ordered filed.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled:
"A Resolution relating to the recurbing and reguttering and the paving
of a portion of Eighth Street from the south line of Ash Street to the
north line of Iron Avenue."
Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A
Resolution relating to the construction of certain sidewalks in the City
of Salina.* game was referred to the Board of Commissioners*
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A
Resolution relating to the appropriation of certain private property in
the City of Salina, Kansas, for public purposes." Same was referred
to the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A
Resolution relating to US 81 Bypass.' Same was referred to the Board
of Commissioners.

"A Resolution relating to the maintenance of US 81 Bypass." Same was
referred to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance reopening a certain portion of Olive Street and a certain
portion of an alley vacated by Ordinance No, 4530.'" Same was referred
to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance appro-
priating and transferring certain money from ethe Waterworks Department
Fund to the Sewer Fund in the City Treasury.
On motion of Commissioner Jackson the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson and Morgen-
stern (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Surface and Mitchell absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4662.
A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution relat-
ing to the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Numbered 172 and
173 in the City of Salina, Kansas.'"
On motion of Commissioner Jackson the resolution was adopted
as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the--follow-
Ingvote was had;, Ayes: Peters, Jackson and Morgenstern (3) Nays:
( Commissioners Surface and Mitchell absent. Mayor approved the
resolution and it is numbered 663.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 386 and 387
Resolution Book Number 2.
