06-10-1936 Minutes2Q COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALIVA, KANSAS. JUNE 10, 1936. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 10, 1936. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Peters, the roll was called and Commissioners Peters, Jackson and Mitchell and City Attorney l Norris responded. Commissioners Morgenstern and Surface absent. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina to pay the cost of paving Tenth Street from the north line of Park Street to the south line of Elm Street in the City of Salina, Kansas, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such ass essments.0 On motion of Commissioner Jackson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson and Mitchell (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Morgenstern and Surface absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4651. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina to pay for the cost of re -paving Santa Fe Avenue from the north line of Elm S reet to the north rig t -of moray line of the main line right-of-way off` the Union Pacific Railroad Company in the City of Salina, Kansas, and assessing against certain railroad companies the coat of constructing railroad crossings across said street, and relat- ing to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessment.' On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its finalsdoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson and Mitchell (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Morgenstern and Surface absent. i Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4652. j I An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special � assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of j Salina to pay the cost of re -curbing Santa Fe Avenue from a point 130 feet south of the south line of Pine Street to tie south line of Lincoln Avenue in the City of Salina, K ansas, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments.'" On motion of Commissioner Jackson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson and Mitchell (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Morgenstern and Surface absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4653. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: MA Resolution revising and approving an estimate of the project cost of Paving Improvements - Job No. 840" j i On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson and Mitchell (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Morgenstern and Surface absent. Mayor ap- proved the resolution and it is numbered 662. The above resolution is recorded infull on Pages 382 and 383, Resolution Book Number 2, City Engineer submitted the following report in reference ° to the construction of a steel elevated storage tank, Contract No. 1 of Job No. 85, Public Works Administration Docket State File No. 1031-R by Chicago Bridge and Iron Works of Chicago, Illinois, under contract dated October 28, 1935: i Salina, ''`ansas . June 10, 1936. To the Hon. Board of Commissioners, City of Salina, Kansas. Gentlemen: 29 11 1 Commissioner Jackson moved that City Engineers report be filed and the work accepted by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. City Engineer submitted plans and specifications and estimate of cost for the construction of lateral sanitary sewers No. 172 and 173. Commissioner Jackson moved that same be approved by the Board of Commissioners and that the City Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for the construction of the above named sewers, bids to be received up to and including Monday, June 15, 1936 at 5:00 P. M. Motion adopted. Mayor Peters submitted the names of John Frederick, L. W. Carl and E. D. Martin to act as appraisers in ascertaining the valuation of certain lots and pieces of ground liable to special assessment for the cost of constructing Lateral Sanitary Sewers No. 172 and 173. Commissioner Mitchell moved that appointments be confirmed by the Board of Commissioners. Application for taxicab drivers license received from Louis J. Schuller. Commissioner Jackson moved that application be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution revising sad approving an estimate of the project cost of 'Elevated Storage Tank - Job No. 65.0 Same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Jackson the Board of Commissioners adjourned. City Clerk The construction of a steel elevated storage tank, Contract No. 1 of Job No. 85, Public Works Administration, Docket State File No. 1031-R by the Chicago Bridge and Iron Works, 37 West Van Buren Street, Chicago, Illinois, under contract dated Oc- tober 28, 19350 has been completed in accord- ance with the contract, plans and specifications providing for the work. I hereby approve the work done under the above contract and recommend the acceptance of the work. respectfully submitted, (Signed) H. N.
