Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas., May 18, 1936. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Peters, the roll was called and Commissioners Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Morgenste rn and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner i Surface absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 11, 1936 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Jackson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Mor- genstern (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Surface absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4639. The following claims to be paid from Relief Highway Fund were presented for payment: Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk Cash paid out for labor $194.70 Quartzite Stone Company Rock Screenings 18.38 Putnam Sand & Building Co. Sand 14.62 Total - - - - - - - - - $227M 0 On motion of Commissioner Morgenstern same were approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation from the Relief Highway Fund for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its finaledoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell, and Mor- genstern (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Surface absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4640. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 3188 as amended, by permitting the use of certain territory now located in "C" Commercial District for certain purposes not now provided for or permitted by said ordinance." On motion of Commissioner Mitchell the ordinance was read and adopted by s ections and on its finalsdoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Mor- genstern (4) Na ys: (0) Commissioner Surface absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4641. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for and requiring the construction of certain concrete! sidewalks in certain streets in City of Salina, Kan.sas.b On motion of Commissioner Jackson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Mor- genstern (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Surface absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4642. A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution relating to a change in plans for paving improvements State File No, Kan. 1050 R and requesting that such change of plans be approved by the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works.' On motion of Commissioner Jackson the resolution was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Peters, Jackson, Mitchell and Mor- genstern (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Surface absent. Mayor ap- proved the resolution and it is numbered 660. The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 378 and 379 of resolution Book Number 2. I� 1 13 Application for taxicab license received from A. B. C. Taxi Service. Commissioner Morgenstern moved that application be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. A petition was presented asking for the rezoning of Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, Block 13, Pacific Addition to the "C" Com- mercial Zone. . Same was referred to the City Planning Commission. City Planning Commission submitted the following report in reference to the rezoning of Lot 3 School Park Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas: Salina, Kansas. May 14, 1936, Mr. Chas. E. Banker, City Clerk, Salina, Kansas. Dear Sir: I am returning herewith the petition signed by Mary E. Clevenger asking for the re- zoning e-zoning of Lot #3 School Park Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas. The action taken by the Board on this petition was that the petition be not approved as the necessity of a business at that loca- tion is not apparent at this time. Also the fact that the adjoining property holders had not expressed themselves regarding the matter, was taken under consideration, and the commit- tee voted to not give their approval to the petition. A petition was presented asking for the construction of a sani- tary sewer on Clark Street from Walnut Street south to 100 feet south of the south line of Spruce Street. Same was referred to the City Engineer. Application for taxicab drivers license received as follows: Ernest A. Lewis Leonard Mayo Paul Buchenau Commissioner Jackson moved that applications be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. Commissioner Morgenstern moved that application for Class "B" Malt & Cereal Beverage Dealers License received from Blue Bird Bar, May 110 1936, be granted by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. The appraisers reports for the paving of Tenth Street from the north line of Park Street to the south line of Elm Street; For the re -paving of Santa_Fe Avenue from the north line of Elm Street to fhe north right of way line of the main line right-of-way of the Union Pacific Railroad Company, and For the re -curbing of Santa Fe Avenue from a point 130 feet south of the south line of Pine Street to the south line of Lincoln Avenue, were received, and on motion of Commissioner Morgenstern Monday, May 252 1936 at 4:30 P. M. was designated as a special meeting at which time the reports will be taken up and acted on by the Board of Commis- sioners, and the City Clerk was instructed to publish notice in the official City paper as provided by law. Motion adopted. 14 Commissioner Jackson moved that Taxicab License No. 16 issued to,L. A. Bartlett and revoked by the Board of Commissioners April 27, 1936 be reinstated.
