ORDINANCE NUMBER 87-9221
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE AMENDMENT OF SECTION 38-70
OF THE SALINA CODE PERTAINING TO THE PENALTY FOR OVERTIME
PARKING, AND REPEALING THE EXISTING SECTION.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
Section 1. That Section 38-70 of the Salina Code is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"Section 38-70. Notice of violation; payment in lieu
ofpenalty .
Each police officer shall attach to such vehicle a
notice to the owner or operator thereof that such vehicle has
been parked in violation of the provisions of this division.
Each such owner or operator may, within forty-eight (48)
hours of the time when such notice was attached to such
vehicle enclose the notice with two dollars ($2.00) if the
violation was parking beyond the period of legal parking for
the zone in violation of Section 38-63 and deposit the same in
the courtesy fine collection box attached to certain posts or
pay the same to the desk sergeant at the police station as a
penalty for and in full satisfaction of such violation. If the
penalty is not paid within forty-eight (48) hours of the time
when such violation was ,attached to such vehicle the penalty
for such violation shall be five dollars ($5.00) for violations
of Section 38-63, payable to the desk sergeant at the police
station, the failure of such owner or operator to make such
provisions within forty-eight (48) hours shall render the
owner or operator subject to the penalties hereinafter
provided for violation of the provisions of this division."
Section 2. That the existing Section 38-70 of the Salina Code is
hereby repealed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption and publication once in the official city newspaper.
