Directors Report:
Circulation numbers continue to increase. We have over 1 million resources available. We added over 1600
materials this last month. USD 305 student cards were added. Hoopla has added some new services with
the BingePass. We put a map from the Campbell room on loan to the Garage (car museum) for display. We
received CKLS funds on the 9th of February which were due January 31st as stated on the MOU. The auditor
requested information from CKLS on January 3, 2022, and then asked SPL to reach out to CKLS again after a
month of not receiving the information requested. CKLS sent our Library 2 letters. One letter wants our
Library to limit Hoopla to the City of Salina in order for them to provide the Public Service allotment grant.
This allotment notes equitable services which Salina Public Library provides.
Salina Arts & Humanities wants to place a sculpture on Library property. We have a location on the south side
of the building near Caldwell plaza that might be a possible option.
22-08 On a motion made by Brendan Burke and seconded by Judy Nold, it was RESOLVED THAT: The
Board of Trustees of the Salina Public Library approves the receipt of the sculpture if it is placed on a pad
already in place on the south side of the building. If that isn’t acceptable we will respectfully decline the
sculpture. Motion passed unanimously. Pg 1263. 02/15/2022.
Assistant Director Report: We are signed up to participate in Match Madness with the Greater Salina
Community Foundation. We will have staff available to speak to donors. We are looking for a volunteer to
shoot free throws for the library. The capital campaign hasn’t progressed as quickly as expected due to the
setback from the recent Covid surge. We had a wrap installed on our new Transit van. We are concluding
our spending of the SHARP grant from Kansas Humanities that has helped us pay for some photography,
video and continuing ed for employees.
