SEPTEMBER 29th, 1924
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, September
29th, 1924. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett,
the roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chamb-
ers and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 22nd, 1924,
were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the re -curbing and guttering of
Fifth Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the south line
of Ash S reet to the north line of Walnut Street in said Cit ,
(excepting the intersection of Fifth Street with Iron Avenue
and for the excavating of such part of said street and the
removal of the old curbing and sidewalk as may be necessary
to permit such improvements and providing for the re -paving
of said Fifth Street from the south line of Ash Street to
the north line of Vialnut Street in said City, and providing
for the cost of such improvements, how tDe same shall be
assessed and manner of payment therefor.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll
was called and the following vote was ha ; Ayes: Hargett,
Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the
same and is numbered 3032.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance regulating vehicular traffic on certain streets
and avenues in the City of Salina, providing for the.designa-
- tion of certain streets and highways and parts thereof as
"Arterial Hipways" and defining the same, prohibiting "left-
hand turning at intersections and points on certain streets
and repealing all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith."
On motion of Commissioner Dyar same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
• An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance regulating the disposal of drainage waters from
the roofs of certain buildings and the construction of down-
spouts or drain -pipes therefrom."
On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Dyar, Board of Commissioners
adjourned.

A resolution was introduced for first reAd.ing providing
for the re -curbing and re -guttering of Fifth Street from Alnut
Street to wish Street.
On notion of Commissioner Dyar same was refereed to the Board
of Commissioners.
City Engineer filed specifications and estimate of cost for
the graveling of Otis Avenue from Santa re Avenue to Fifth Street;
Fifth Street from Otis Avenue to Euclid Avenue; and Ninth Street
from Jewell Avenue to Cloud Street.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers some were ordered filed.
The appraisers report for the curbing, guttering, excavating,
grading and paving of:
Claflin Avenue from Highland Avenue to hinth Street;
for the excavating, grading and paving of unpaved portion of:
Santa re Avenue from Beloit Avenue to Claflin Avenue;
and for the curbing and guttering of the east side of ninth Street
from Jewell Avenue to Claud Street were received, and on ;notion
of Commissioner Chambers honday, June 23rd, 1924 at 5=00 P. T.
was designated as a special meeting at which time the appraisers
reports will be taken up and acted upon by the Board of Commission-
ers and that the City Clerk give notice in the official City paper
as provided by lava. lotion adopted.
A petition was received from property owners in the vicinity
of Santa Fe hvenue and Grand Avenue, stating that they have no
objections to 1sa B. Leighton e2ceting a Milling Station at the
southwest corner of 0anta A Avenue and Grand A venue. Same was
referred to the City Planning Conmission.
On motion of Commissioner Dyar, Board of Commissioners ad-
journed.
