C OMMISS IONERS PROCEEDINGS', REGULAR MEETING.
C OMMISWNERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
NOVEMBER 10th, 1924.
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, November 10th,
1924. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett, the roll was
called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chambers and City At-
torney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of November 3rd, 1924
were read and approved as read.
The following resolution was introduced:
BE IT RESOEVED by the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Salina Kansas, that the order given by the City "-engineer
under date of tovember 6th, 1924 to J. L. Rayl, Contractor, for
the modification of the contract be�w een the City of Salina and
said J. L. Rayl, Contractor, dated ctober 28th, 1924, relative to
the change of the width of the gutter along each side of Fifth
Street from Ash Street to Walnut Street, given pursuant to the
provisions of said contract concerning omission, addition or
alteration in the work covered thereby, such changes having been
accepteb by the said Contractor on November 6th, 1924, said writ-
ten directions of the City Engineer and said written acceptance
thereof by the Contractor, a copy of which is attached hereto
and made a part hereof, be and the same is hereby ratified and
confirmed and that.the changes so directed to be made by the
City Engineer are considered a part of said contract.
Adopted and approved, November 10th, 1924.

On motion of Commissioner Chambers the resolution was adopted
as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the fol-
lowing vote was had; Ayes Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3)
Nays: (0)
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the purchase of time certif icatRs of deposit
from the Sinking Fund of the City of Salina, Kansas.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes Hargett, Dyar and
Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num-
bered 3042.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"4n ordinance prohibiting the occupancy of any street within the
City of Salina, Kansas by certain street or sidewalk stsnds from
which is sold or offered for sale certain merchandise, prohibiting
the issuance of any license for any such street or sidewalk stand
and rRpealing all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict here-
with.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers
(3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3043.
City Manager Layton appointed Lewis Dow as dight Fireman
at the City Building, and on motion of Commissioner Dyar the
appointment was confirmed.
City Manager Layton reported favorable on the petition ask-
ing for the location of a sidewalk on the east side of Ninth Street
from Bond Street to Wilson (where there is not already a walk con-
structed.)
