Regular "meeting of the Board of Commissioners, June 16th,
1924. 111'eeting .was called to order by m=ayor Hargett, the roll
was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chambers and City
'ttorney 'Norris responded.
The minutes of the !regular-•leeting of June 9th, 1924 were
read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "4n ordinance making
appropriations for miscellaneous purposes:

On notion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance wes read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; ayes: Hargett, Dyar and
Chambers (3) Nays: (0) `i.'h.e ' ayor approved the same and is
numbered 2996.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance specifying and selecting, the material to be used
and letting a contract for the curbing and guttering of the east
side of Ninth Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the
south line of Jewell Avenue to the north line of Cloud Street in
said City."
On motion of Commissioner }-ter*' t the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes Ilargett.. Dyar
and Chambers (3) ITays : (0) The Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 290-7.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance specifying and s elexting the paving material to
be used and letting a contract for the curbing, guttering, exca-
vating, grading and paving Ciaflin Avenue in the City of Salina,
nansas from the west line of highland Avenue to the east line of
Tainth Street in said City."
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar
and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The j'°iayor approved the same and
is numbered 2998.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to be
used and letting a contract for the excavating grading and
paving of all of the unpaved portion of 6a-nta Le Avenue in the
City of Salina, Kans as, in the center of said Santa e Avenue
as now occupied by the tracks of the Salina Street Railway
Company from the south line of Beloit Avenue thence south to
Claflin Avenue in said City."
On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the f ollowin vote vwas_ had; Ayes Hargett., Dyar and Chamb-
ers (3) relays: 0) The 1°layor approved the same and is - numbered
2999.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of
Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing guttering, excavating,
Mrading and paving E.1hth Street in said pity from the north line
of Elm Street to the south line of rine Street therein, and
relating to and. providing for the collection and "payment of such
assessments.
On motion of Comniss-7_oner Chambers same was referred. to the
Board of Commissioners,

NOVEMBER 17th, 1924.
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners November 17th,
1924. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett, the roll was
called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chambers and City At-
torney Norris responded.
The minutes of the jlegular Meeting of November 10th, 19249
were read and approved as read,
An ordinance was introduced entitled: « "An ordinance making
approrpriations for miscellaneous purposes.
On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers
(3) Nays (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3044.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance regulating the licensing and limiting the operation of
vehicles upon the streets and avenues of the City of Salina, Kansas,
engaged in the carrying of passengers for hire between fixed points
within the City of Salina, Kansas, or between points within the
City of Salina, Kansas and without said City of Salina, Kansas, or
betty een points whdlly without the City of Salina, Kansas, but whose
route lies over and through the streets and avenues within said
City of Salina, and providing the penalties for the violation of
this ordinance."
On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for firs t reading entitled: "An
ordinance amending Ordinance Number 3003 entitled, An ordinance
creating the office of Electrical Inspector in and for the City
of Salina, Kansas; regulating and defining the duties of such office
and establishing rules and regulations concerning the installation,
operation and maintenance of electrical wiring and applicances,
and fixing penalties for the violation of the provisions of this
ordinance; and repealing Ordinance No. 2500 and all other ordinances
in conflict with this ordinance" by adding thereto a new section
to be known as Section "7A" providing that no permit be issued
under said ordinance until a license as required thereby shall have
been first secured and paid for,"
On motion of Commissioner Dyar same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
A request from the Keberlein Brothers and Andy V. Miller
asking for the cancellation of taxi bonds on file in the office
of the City Clerk was received,
Commissioner Dyar moved that the taxi bond of Keberlein
Brothers and Andy '+V. Miller be cancelled and that said indemnity
bonds be cancelled and returned with the understanding that bond-
ing company be not released from any liability prior to the return
of the bonds.
Mayor Hargett appointed Ed. A. Davis as a member ,of the Board
of Trustees of the Memorial Hall to take the place of Geo. S. Robb
who has declined to q ualify., and on motion of Commissioner
Chambers the appointment was confirmed.
City Manager Layton appointed Glen VanCleef as Desk Sergeant
to take the place of Guy S, Richards who resigned; and on motion
of Commissioner Dyar the appointment was confirmed.
City manager Layton appointed Dennis K. Fitch as Patrolman,
and on motion of Commissioner Chambers the appointment was con-
firmed.
