Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 2nd, 1924.
11eeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett the roll was called
and Commissioners Hargett,.Dyar and Chambers and City Attorney
Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Fleeting of Iday 26th, 1924 were
read and approved as read.
The following resolution was introduced:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Salina, Kansas, that there be and there is hereby granted
to the Missouri racific Railroad Company its successors and assigns
an easement for a railroad right-of-way in Third treet within
said City west of and immediately adjacent to tete east line of
said street from the north line, extended west, of Lot 10 on Elm
Street to the south line, extended west, of Lot 5 on Fine Street,
such easement to be of sufficient width to permit the construction of
a single line of railroad track within the limits above described
PROVIDED HO'IEVER, that there shall be and there is hereby reserved to
the City of Salina the right to terminate the easement and right
therein granted at any time that such termination may be deemed neces-
sary by the governing body of the City iaf SalinaCand that upon any
such termination said Missouri Pacific ailroad ompany, its success-
ors or assigns shall remove any railroad tracks or other improvements
which may have been constructed thereon and restore that part of
such street used by it to its present condition.

Bids for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and
paving of certain streets as advertised for were received as f ol-

On motion of Commissioner Dyar the contract was awarded to
C. P. Barrington as per his bid, and the City Clerk was instructed
to return the certified checks to the unsuccessful bidders.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriations for miscellaneous purposes,"
On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the f9llring vote was had; Ayes' Hargett, Dyar and Chambers

On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and th@ following vote was had; Ayes argett, Dyar and Chamb-
ers (3 Nays: 0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered
2987.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assess-
ents on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina,
nsas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, gradipg
and paving Eleventh street in said City from the north line of ark
Street to the south line o Elm Street therein, and relating Po and
providing for the collection and payment of such assessments.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vota was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
Ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assess -
encs on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina,
nsas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading
and paving Highland Avenue in said City from the south line of
Republic venue to the north line of Beloit Avenue therein, and
relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such
assessments*"
On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was red and
adopted by sections and on its final a doptlon the roll was
called the following vote was had; Ayes: argett, Dyar and
Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The ayor approved the same and is
numbered 2989.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of
alina, Kansas to pay the cost.of curbing, guttering, excavating,
grading and paying Ellswortj$ Avenue in said City from the vest
line of Santa e avenue to the east line of Highland Avenue therein -
and relating td and. providing for the collection and payment of
such assessments.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes • Hargett, Dyar
and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The TIayor approved the same and is
numbered 2990.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of
Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating,
grading and paving Sunset Drive in said City from the west line
of Ninth Street, thence west to Highland Circle, therein and
relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such
assessments.11
On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final a doRtion the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: argett, Dyar and Chamb-
ers (3 ) Nays: (0 ) The 14ayor approved the same and is numbered
2991.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of
Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating,
grading and paving Beloit Av enue in said City from the wes t line
of Santa be Avenue to the east ine of Ninth Street thereih, and —,
relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such
assessments. It
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll
was called and the following vote was had; Ayes : Hargett, Dyar
and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The ayor approved the same and is
numbered 2992.

An ordinance was' introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to the construction of buildings and the
issuing of permits therefor., providing Penalties for violations
hereof and repealing Ordinance No. 1510, Ordinance No. 1617,
Ordinance No. 1752, and all other ordinances and parts thereof
in conflict herewith."
On motion of Commissioner-Dyar the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final ado tion the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Fargett, Dyar and Chamb-
ers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered
2993.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance creating the office of -electrical Inspector in
and for the City of Salina, Kansas, regulating and defining the
duties of such office and establishing rules and regulations
concerning the installation, operation and maintenance of elec-
trical tiviring and appliances, and fixing penalties for the viola -
ion of the provisions of this ordinance, and repealing Ordinance
o. 2500 and al other ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with
this ordinance.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
City 1"tanager recommended that 55,000.00 be appropriated out
of the riremens Relief Fund for the purchase of time certificates
of deposit drawing interest at the rate of 4j per annum.
On motion of Commissioner Dyar, recommendation was adopted
by the Board of Commissioners.
City idanager rec?nended the installation of an incandes-
cent light in Oakdale ark directly east of Claf lin Nall.at the
lily pond.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers recommendation was
adopted by the Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Dyar, Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
