Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners April 28th, 1924. 11eeting was called to order by !vla.yor Hargett the roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dya r and Chambers and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 21st, 1924, were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim. On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes : Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2966. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance amending Section 1 of ordinance Humber 2919 entitled, "An ordinance relating to salaries and compensation of officers and employees of the City of Salina Kansas, and repealing Ordinance Nurlber 2425 of the City of hlina, Kansas, and repealing such parts of Ordinance Dumber 2906 as are in conflict here^rith and repealing said orginal Section One of Ordinance Number 2919." On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A petition was received asking for the vacation of alley between Lots 66 and 68 in the Kansas Wesleyan University grounds. On -notion same was referred to the City Mlanager for investigation. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance vacating a certain part of a certain alley in the City of Salina,:Kansas foermerly constituting the north 15 feet of Lot 35 on Santa Fe tvenue in the City of Salina and accepting a deed from the International larvester Company of America to a tract of land five (5) feet in width, extend- ing east and wes t along the south side of the present alley which formerly the north 15 feet of Lots 36 on Fifth Street in the City of Salina, Kansas. On motion of Commissioner Dyar same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Ah ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certaib lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of excavating, grading and having University Place in said City from the wes t line of Baker Street to the east line of pays souri Pacific Railroad bight -of -way therein, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments. if On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of alina, Kansas to pay the cost of excavating, grading and paving all of the unpaved portion of Iron Avenue in said City in the center of said Iron Avenue occupied by the tracks of the Salira Street Railway Company from the east line of Penn Avenue to the west line of Delaware treet therein, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assess- ments." On motion of Commissioner Dyar same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of excavating, grading and paving Mulber - Street in said City from the east line of Fifth Street to the west 1ine of Second Street therein, (except the intersec- tions of Third Street and Fourth Street which are already paved), and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments. It On motion of Commissioner Chambers same ,ras referred to the Board of Cormissioners. An agreement was presented between the City of Salina and the Salina JJater Works Company relative to the laying of six-inch mater mains on certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas. On motion, the above named agreement lvias accepted and appro-�d by the Board of Commissioners. City Manager la.yton submitted a report recommending the in- stallation of an incandescent light at the corner of Seventh Street and Antrim Street. Same was adopted by the Board of Com- missioners.
