03-17-1924 Minutes1 COMESSL ONE 2 PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR 11EETING. COMMISSIONERS ONERS ROOM, SALIN A, KANSAS. MIARCH 17th, 1924. Regular IMeeting of the Board of Commissioners, !'larch 17th, 1924. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett, the roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Uhambers and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of '`arch 10th, 1924, were read and approved as read. An Ordinance was introduced entitled�l "An ordinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes. On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted as read by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2955. An Ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to be used and letting a contract for the excavating, grading and paving all of the unpaved portion of Iron Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas, in the center of said 'Iron Avenue occupied by the tracks of The Salina Street Railway Company, from the east liner,of Penn Avenue to the west line of Delaware Avenue in said City. On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2956. An Ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to be used and letting a contract for the excavating, grading and paving of all of the unpaved portion of Santa Fe Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas in the center of Sana Fe Avenue as now occupied by the tracks of the Salina Street Railway Company, form a point 230 feet south of South Street to the north line of Beloit Avenue in said O-ity, (with the exception however of the intersections of Prescott Avenue, Crawford Avenue, Bond Street, Milson Street and Republic Avenue.)". On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote visa had: Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Payor approved the same and is numbered 2957. An Ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance prohibiting the use of the streets, alleys, avenues and other public thoroughfares of the City of Salina, Kansas, for the all night parking of automobiles and other vehicles and pro- viding a penalty for the violation of this ordinance.` On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num- bered 2958. An Ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance prohibiting the use of fireworks, fire crackers or other similar articles within certain portions of the City of Salina and making, the violation of this ordinance a misdemeanor and providing a penalty therefor. if On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chamb- ers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2959. The following resolution was introduced for second reading: 3{JV �:3 Y? ls+� i BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas that the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Grand Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas from the wrest line of 6anta Ye venue to the east line of Twelfth Street in said City, be and the s ame is hereby determined to be a necessary improvement, and that said Grand Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas be curbed, guttered, excavated, graded and paved wahtin the limits ablve defined. introduced for first reading, March 10th, 1924. Commissioner chambers moved that the sresolution be adopted as read and on its final a doption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) An agreement was presented between the City of Salina and The Salina dater works Company relative to the laying of a six-inch water main on University Plaae from Colle e Avenue gest to the TLissouri Pacific Railway Tracks; and on Cedar Street from College Avenue east 120 feet. Same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. City Manager Layton submitted a report recommending the installation of an incandescent light at the end of Park Street on College Avenue. On motion, recommendation was adopted by the Board of Commissioners. A communication was presented from lrs. Elfrieda Mais, asking to be released from the contract with the City of Salina relative to Auto Races on July 4th and Labor Day during the year 1924. On motion of Commissioner Dyar the above request was complied with. A petition was received asking for the installation of a street light at the corner of Ninth and Wilson Streets. Same was referred to the City 11anager. On motion of Commissioner Dyar, Board of Commissioners adjourned. City Ulerk.
