Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett, the roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chambers and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular -Te e t ing of March 3rd., 119249 were read and approved as read. An Ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2951. An Ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim. On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by secyions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays:° (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2952. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance U making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim. On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2953. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance amending Section 16 of Ordinance Humber 1552 of the City of Salina, Kansas, and repealing said original section 16 of Ordinance Number 1552." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Harg ett, Dyar and Chambers (3 0 Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2954. An Ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance prohibiting the use of streets, alleys, avenues and other public thoroughfares of the City of Salina, Kansas for the all night parking of automobiles and other vehicles and providing a penalty for the violation of this ordinance. On motion of Commissioner Dyar same was referred to the Bard of Commissioners. An Ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance prohibiting the use of fire works or fire crack- ers at any time within certain portions of the City of Salina, and making the violation of this ordinance a misdemeanor and providing a peanalty therefor," On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the Board of Commissioners, An Ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to be used and letting a contract for the excavating, grading and paving of Iron Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas in the center of said Iron Avenue occupied by the tracks of the Salina Street -railway Company, from the east line of Penn Avenue to the infest line of Delaware Avenue in said City." On motion of Commissioner Dyar same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An Ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to be used and letting a contract for the excavating, grading and p. ving of all of the unpaved portion of Santa Fe Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas in the center of said Santa e Avenue as now occupied by the tracks of the Salina Street Railway Company, from a point 230 feet south of South Street to the north line of Beloit Avenue in said City, (with the exception however of the intersections of Prescott Avenue, Crawford Avenue, Bond Street, Wilson Street and Republic Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for f irvt reading providing for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Grand Avenue from Santa Fe Avenue to Twelfth Street. On motion of Commissioner Dyar same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Depository Bond from the Putnam Trust kompany in the amount of 02,000.00 was received, and on motion same was approved and ordered filed. Depository Bond from The National Bank of America in the amount of $15,000 was received, and on motion same was approved and ordered filed. City Manager Layton submitted a report recommending the installation of an incandescent light at the corner of Baker and University Streets, and on motion report was adopted. City Planning Commission to whom was referred the matter of erecting a filling station at the corner of Claflin Avenue and ilinth Street reported favorably on the same. A petition was secured from property owners within one- half block of the four directions of Mulberry Street and Santa Fe Avenue, and filed with the City Planning Commission, in reference to the location of a filling station on the southeast corner of Santa Fe Avenue and Mulberry Street, which committee reported favorably on the same. L. L. Shoemaker, Silk Inspector of the City of Salina made a verbal report to the Board of Commissioners with refer- ence to the milk situation in the City of Salina. Recommenda- tion was also made by the 14ilk Inspector for certain amendments to the Milk Ordinance that would strengthen the same. ,,V. A. Talbot, a representative of the Municipal Golf Course appeared before the Board of Commissioners asking for extension of contract for another year, with h: -few additional requirements. The Committee offering to bear one-half of the expense for the purchase of a grass mower not to exceed the cost of 5?425.00. Mayor Hargett appointed 17. S. Frey, C. J. Peck and VIm. JAuir to act as appraisers in ascertaining the valuation of certain lots and pieces of land liable to taxation for the cost of paving the unpaved portion of Santa Fe Avenue from South to Beloit; iron Avenue from Penn to Delaware. On motion of Commissioner Dyar the appointments were confirmed. Plans and specifications for lily pond to be constructed just east of Claflin Hall in Oakdale park was presented by the Park Commissioner, L. B. Kemper. On motion, Park Commissioner was instructed to begin work on same at once. On motion of Commissioner Chambers, Board of Commission- ers adjourned. City Clerk.
