An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance concerning tLnd regulating the moving of houses and
other buildings within the City of Salina, andd through, on, over
and across the streets, avenues, alleys and other public thorough-
fares thereof; declaring certain acts to be middemeanors, and
providing penalties for the violation thereof; and repealing
Ordinance Number 1118 of the City of Salina, Eansas and all
other ordinances or parts of ordinances of said City in conflict
herewith."
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
cal;ed and the following vote was had; 1 -yes- Hargett, Dyar and
Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The I=Mayor approved the same and is num-
bered 2947.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and regulating the conveyance of pas-
sengers for hire in the City of Salina; fixing fares and rates
therefor; providing for the licensing of taxicabs and the drivers
thereof and the use of taximeters; prohibiting the use of taxi-
cabs for certain purposes; providing penalties for the v�olation
of this ordinance and repealing Section 10 of Ordinance umber
1552 and all other ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
with this ordinance."
On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the follwing vote was had; Ayes: Hargett and Chambers (2)
Nays: Dyad.' (1) The T:Iayor approved the same and is numbered
2948.

"An ordinance relating to the registration of dogs and the pay-
ment of a registration fee therefor and amending Section Number
Tvvro (2 of Ordinance 1976 of the City of Salina as passed and
approved August 7th, 1916, a.nd repealing said original Section
2 of Ordinance Number 1976.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the follow vote was had: Ayes: laarett, Dyar and
Chambers (3) Nays: 0 g

Regular 1,1eeting of the Board of Commissioners 1' -arch 3rd,
1924. T.Ieeting was called- to order by MayorIiargett, the roll
was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chambers and City
Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular I:Reeting of February 25th, 19243
were read and approved as read.
Bids for the paving of street car tracks on Fast Iron
Avenue and South Santa Fe Avenue were received from:
C. P. Barrington, Salinas Kansas.
Globe Construction Co., Wichita, Kansas.
t,. L. Cook, Ottawa, Kansas.
Commissioner Dyar moved that the contract be awarded to
C. P. Barrington as per his bid submitted; and that to certi-
fied checks be returned to the unsuccessful bidders. Motion
adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance amending Section 16 of Ordinance Number 1552 of
the City of Salina, Kansas, and repealing said original Section
16 of Ordinance I`lumber 1552."
On motion of Commissioner Chambers same arras refereed to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of certain claims.
On motion mf Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and
its final adoption the roll was called

"An ordinance granting the Union Pacific Railroad Company, its
successors and assigns, the right to construct, maintain and
operate a standard gauge railroad track over and across Fourth
Street, and Fifth Street and across the alley in the block
bounded by Fourth, Elm, Fifth and pine Streets, and across the
alley in the block bounded by Fifth.,Elm, Santa Fe and ine
Streets in the City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar
and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 2950.
C. Curphey appeared before the Board of Commissioners
and asked permission to erect a filling station at the corner
of Ninth Street and Claf lin Avenue.
On motion permission was granted, subject to the approv-
al of the City panning Commission.
A petition was received asking for the location of an
are light at the corner of Baker and University Streets. Same
was referred to the City r.ianager.
A petition was received asking for the curbing, guttering,
excavating, grading and paving Grand Avenue from Twelfth Street
to Santa Fe Avenue. Same was referred o the City Manager,
Application for pool hall license was received from
R. D. Kathary, and on notion same was granted.
C. P. Barrington filed his Maintenance, Performance and
Statuatory Bonds, with the jD"laryland Casualty Company as surety,
for the paving of certain streets, under contract dated Febru-
ary 25th, 1924.
On motion, sarin were accepted and approved by the Board
of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers, Board of Commission-
ers adjourned.
