COMMISSIONERS ROOMY
SALINA, KANSAS.
FEBRUARY 25th, 1924.
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, February
25th3 1924. Meeting wasc ailed to order by Mayor Hargett, the
roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chambers and
City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutss of the Regular Meeting of February 18th, 1924,
were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the construction of certain water
service pipes on tie City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and ori its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chamb-
ers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered
2944.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the construction of certain gas ser-
vice pipes in the City of Salina, Kansas.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance war read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Jyar and Chamb-
ers (3) Nays (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered
2945.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance granting to Union Pacific Railroad Company its
successors and ass17ns, the right to construct, maintain and
operate a standard gauge railroad track over and across Fourth
Street and Fifth Street and across the alley in the block bounded
by Fourth, Elm, Fifth and Pine Streets, and across the alley in
the block bounded by Fifth, Elm, Santa Fe and nine Streets in the
City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Dyar same was referred to the
Board of commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to the registration of dogs and the pay-
ment of a registration fee therefor and amending Section Number
2 of ordinance Number 1976 of the City of Salina, as passed Aug-
ust 7th. 1916, and repealing said original section 2 of "rdinance
1976."
On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
City Engineer submitted plans and specifications and esti-
mate of cost for the paving of street tracks on Iron Avenue from
South
Penn Avenue to -Delaware Street; and on Santa Fe Avenue from
Street to Beloit Avenue.
On motion of Commissioner Dyar same were adopted and ap-

City Managers `J. A. Layton submitted the name of R. H. Hall
as 2nd Assistant Fire Chief, and on motion of Commissioner Chamb-
ers the appoitment was confirmed.
Bids were received for mixer as advertised for from:
Jaeger Machine Co., Columbus, Ohio,
Farmers Mutual Equipment Co. Kansas City, Missouri,
hoehring Machine Co., Kansas City, Misso-gri.
Victor L. Phillips Co. Kansas City, Missouri,
Smith -Graham ConstructionCo. Augusta, Kansas.
Commissioner Dyar moved that the bid of the Smith -graham
Construction Compahy for ti350.00 be accepted. otion adopted.
City Manager Layton recommended the installation of
the following incandescent lights:
Alley between 4th and 5th from Iron to Walnut;
Alley between 4th and 5th from Iron to Ash;
Alley between Santa Fe and 7th from 'ylalnut to --ron;
Alley between Santa Fe and 7th from Iron to Ash;
'Alley between Santa Fe and 5th from Iron to Ash;
lley between Santa Fe and 5th from iron to Walnut.
On motion, reconmendations were adopted and approved
by the Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers, Board of Corm ls-
sioners adjourned.
