JANUARY 21st , 1924. --'
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, January
21st, 1904. Yleeting was called to order by Mayor nargett, the
roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chambers
and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 14th, 1924
were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled.: it An ordinance mak-
ing appropriations for miscellaneous purposes.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final a doption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar
and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 2912.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the construction of certain sewer
service pipes in the City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Conmissioner Dyar the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll
was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett,
Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same
and is numbered 2913.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance proividing for the construction of certain water
service pipes in the City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar
and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 2914.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the construction of certain gas
service pipes in the City of Salina, Kansss."
On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chamb-
ers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the sane and is numbered
2915.
On account of the City not being permitted to construct
any more sanitary sewers until after the building of a Sewage
Disposal Plant, and that it was the plans of the Commissioners
to construct sewers in advance of all paving.
Commissioner Dyar moved that the City Clerk do not advertise
for bids for the paving of:
Thirteenth from State to Ash Street;
Prescott Avenue from Eleventh to Twelfth;
Sunset Drive from Ninth to Highland Circle;
and that the paving of the above streets be deferred until some
future date.
City Engineer submitted plans and specifications and esti-
mate of cost for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading
and paving of Eighth Street from Elm Street to Pine Street.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers same were adopted and
approved by the Board of Commissioners, and the City Clerk was
instructed to advertise for bids for the paving of the above
named.strect, to be received up to and including February 6th,
1924. -
Mayor Hargett appointed W. S. Frey, atm. Muir and C. J.
Peck to act as appraisers in ascertaining the valuation of the
lots and pieces of land liable to special assessment for the
cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving:
Eighth Street from Elm to Pine;
Eleventh Street from Park to Elm;
Front Street from Elm to Pine;
Eleventh Street from Morrison to Prescott;
2,4orrison Avenue from Tenth to Eleventh;
Putnam Avenue from 'Morrison to South;
Spruce Street from Baker to Phillips;
Mulberry Street from Fifth to Second;
University Place from Baker to Mo• Pao. Ry. n/1'J;
Beloit Avenue from Santa Fe to Ninth;
Highland Avenue from Beloit to Republic;
Ellsworth Avenue from Santa Fe to Highland;
Railway Tracks on Santa Fe from South to Beloit;
curbing and guttering:
Third Street from Mulberry south to Smoky Hill River.
On motion of Commissioner Dyar the appointments were
confirmed.
City Manager, W. A. Layton recommended the installation
of an incandescent light at the corner of Ash Street and Des
Moines Avenue.
On motion of Commissioner Dyar the recommendation was
adopted.
City Attorney submitted a contract from the Salina Street
Railway Company stipulating agreement for the paving of street
car tracks on East Iron Avenue from Penn Avenue to Delaware
Street; also on Santa Fe Avenue from a point 200 feet south of
South Street to Beloit Avenue.
Commissioner Dyar moved that the Mayor be authorized to
sign the above named contract.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers', Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
