Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, January
14th, 1924. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett the
roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chambers
and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the '{egular meeting of January 7th, 1924
were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering, excavating,
grading and paving of Ei hth Street in the City of Salina, Kansas
from the north line ofElm3ttreet to the south line of Pine
Street in said City, and providing for the cost thereof., �ow
the same shall be assessedand manner of payment therefor.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar
and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 2911.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance defining a certain misdemeanor,and providing a
penalty for the violation thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the construction it of certain gas
set+vice pipes in the City of Salina, Kansas.
On motion of commissioner Dyar same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the construction ii of certain water
service pipes in the City of Salina, Kansas.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the construction of certain sewer
pipes in the City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Dyar same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
A petition was received protesting against the laying of
a sewer and pavement on Prescott Avenue from Eleventh Street to
Twelfth Street. Same was ordered filed.
A depository bond in the amount of X20,000.00 was received
from The National Bank of America, and on motion, same was re-
ceived, approved and ordered filed.
A proposition was received from the Putnam Investment Company
offering to furnish and distribute pit run sand and gravel on
Ohio Street from the north end of the Ohio Street Bridge to the
intersection of Ohio and North Street, a distance of approximately
1100 feet for X1.50 per cubic yard for material distributed, same
to be paid for jointly by the City and the County.
On motion of Commissioner Dyar the proposition was accept-
ed.
A proposition was received from the Putnam Investment Com-
pany offering to furnish pit run sand and gravel, to be delivered
on Riverside Drive at a price of $1.50 per yard; and $1.75 per
yard for material delivered in either Oakdale and Kenwood kark.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the proposition was
ordered filed.
A request was received from the Putnam Investment Company
asking to be designated one of the City depositories. Same was
ordered filed.

Certain recor►mendatioris were received from the City Planning
Commission, and same were ordered placed on file.
City Manager W. A. Layton reported on the bids for the pur-
chase of truck to be used by the Street Department, which is in
words and figures as follows: From the International narvester0ompany
We agree to deliver to the City of Salina, Kansas one (1)
Model "Sty Speed Truck, one ton, for the sum of 4'1372.25, payment
as follows:
400.75 on delivery,
1485.75 July 20 , 1924 ,
485.75 Jan. 20 , 1925
Interest at 6% on deferred payments Also one (1) Pock Hand
Hoist for the sum of %,85.00.
On motion of Cor Assioner Chambers the bid of the '`nternat-
ional Harvester Company was accepted.
On motion of Commissioner Chambers Board of Conmiissioners
adjourned.
