Regular TIeeting of the Board of Commissioners, October 15th,
1923. Meeting was called to order by Itayor Hargett, the roll
was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chambers and City
Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the i-tiegular 1 eeting of October 8th, 1923
were read and approved as read.
An Ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriations for miscellaneous purposes."
On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the follotiring vote was had; eyes: Hargett, Dyar and Chamb-
ers (3) Nays: (0) The layor apporved tr_e same and is numbered.

An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriations for miscellaneous purposes."
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar
and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 2866.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance granting to Union raeifie Railroad. Company, its
successors and assigns the right to construct, maintain and
operate a standard guage railroad track over and across Elm
Street in the City of Salina, Kansas."
On notion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had.; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chamb-
ers (3) Nays: (0) The PIayor apporved the same and is numbered
2867.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading; entitled:
"An ordinance granting to Union Pacific Railroad Company, its
successors and assigns the right to construct, maintain and
operate a standard guage railroad. track over and across Third
and -Elm Streets and through the alley in the block bounded by
Second, Ash, Third and Elm Streets, in the City of Salina, Kan-
sas.t'
On motion of Corimissioner Char:2bers same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
The following resolution was introduced for second reading:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Salina, Kansas thgt the excavating, grading and paving
of all of the unpaved portion of Santa Fe Avenue, in the center
of the street notir occupied by the tracks of the Salina Street
Railway Comx)any, from the south line of Bond Street to the
north line of Wilson Street in said City, are each and all im-
provements necessary to be rade and done, and be it further
resolved that said unpaved portion of Santa Fe -"venue be exca-
vated, graded and paved within the limits above defined.
Introduced for first reading, October 8th, 1923.
Adopted and approved ........ October 15, 1923.

BE IT RESOLVED by the Bra rd of Commissioners of the
City of Salina, Kansas that the excavating, grading and paving
of all of the unpaved portion of Santa Fe Avenue, in the City of
Salina, Kansas in the center of the street now occupied by the
tracks of the Salina Street Lailway Company, from the south line
of Wilson Street to the north line of Republic Y.venue in said City,
are each and all improvements necessary to be made and done, and
be it further resolved that said unpaved portion of Santa Fe -,venue
be excavated, graded and paved within the limits above defined.

from the south line of Republic Avenue to the north line of Beloit
Avenue, in said City, are each and all improvements necessary to
br made and done, and be it further resolved that said unpaved por-
tion of Santa Fe Avenue be excavated, graded and paved within the
limits above defined.

On motion of Commissioner Dyar The resolution Oras adopted as
read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the follo.^r-
(0) vvote eras had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays:
11rs. Fred Newhouse was granted a lease for boat landing
at the head of South Street.
dr. Hancock, 1,lanager of Biggs Hide House appeared before the
Board of Commissioners and asked for a special permit to construct
a corrugated iron garage on East Iron "venue, at the rear of build-
ing occupied by the Biggs Hide House.
On motion, special permit was granted.
A. D. Sewell, appeared before the Board of Commissioners and
asked for a special permit to construct a cement building on the
east side of Seventh Street about 125 feet north of iron Avenue.
On motion, a special permit was granted.
Recommendations were received from the City Planning Commis-
sion, and on motion same were ordered placed on file.
On motion of Commissioner Dyar, Board of Commissioners ad-
journed.
