SEPTEMBER 24th, 1923. - -
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, September
24th, 1923. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett,
the roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chamb-
ers and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 17th,
1923 were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance establishing maximum rates to be charged for gas
to consumers thereof in the City of Salina, Kansas by The
Salina Light, Power & Gas Company, amending Section 4 of
Ordinance No. 2459 and repealing such original Section Four
(4), and amending and repealing all ordinances or sections or
parts thereof in conflict herewith."
- On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
-called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar
and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 2852.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance granting a right-of-way to the Missouri Pacific
Railroad Company, its successors and assigns, for a switch
track in, over,and across Pine Street and Fifth Street in the
City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll
was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett,
Dyar and Chambers .(3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the
same and is numbered 2853.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance
making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was
read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the
roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Har-
gett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The -Mayor approved
the same and is numbered 2854.
The following resolution was introduced for second
reading:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Salina, Kansas, that the curbing, guttering, excavat-
ing, grading and paving of Beloit Avenue in the City of Salina,
Kansas from the west line of an a e venue to the east line
of Ninth Street in said City be and the same is herebde-
termined to be a necessary improvement, and that said 4loit
Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas be curbed, guttered,
excavated, graded and paved within the limits above defined.

of Salina, Kansas that the curbing, guttering, excavating; rad-
ing, and paving of Eleventh Street in the City of Salina, ansas
from the north line of Washington 7venue to the north line of
Prescott Avenue in said City, be and the same is hereby determined
to be a necessary improvement, and that said Eleventh Street in
the City of Salina, Kansas be curbed, guttered, excavated, graded
and paved within the limits above defined.

City of Salina, Kansas be curbed, guttered, excavated, graded
and paved within the limits above defined.

and paved within the limits above defined.

of all of the unpaved portion of Santa Fe A enue in the center
of the street now occupied by the 7racks of the 6alina Street
Railway Company, from the south line of Prescott Avenue to the
to the north line of Crawford Avenue in said City, are each and
all improvements necessary to be made and done, and be it further
resolved that said unpaved portion. of Santa Fe Avenue be exca-
vated, graded and paved within the limits above defined.

all of the unpaved portion of Santa Fe A enue in the center of
the street, now occupied by the tracks the Salina Street
Railway Company, from a point approximately 200 feet south of
South Street to the north line of Prescott Avenue in said City
are each and all improvements necessary to be made and done, and
be it further resolved that said unpaved portion of Santa Fe
Avenue be excavated, graded and paved within the limits above
defined.

line of Baker Street to the east line of the Missouri Pacific
Railv:ray Right-of-V1ay in said City, be and the same is hereby
determined to be a necessary improvement, and that said Univer-
sity Place in the City of Salina, Kansas be excavated, graded
and paved within the limits above defined.

A petition was received asking for the construction of a
sidewalk on the east side of Seventh Street beginning at Lot
13, Block 15, Pacific Addition running thence south to Grand
Avenue. Same was referred to the City Manager.
A remonstrance was received protesting against the vaca-
tion of University Place from Baker to Twelfth (or Faulkner
Street), also for the vacation of the alley between Iron Avenue
and University Place from Baker Street to Eleventh Street; and
also for the vacation of a strip of ground on the East side of
Twelfth Street (or Faulkner Street) to conform with outlet of
said street to Iron Avenue. Same was referred to the City
hranager.
A petition was received from the property oviners in the
vicinity of Santa Fe Avenue and.Beloit Avenue requesting that
a permit be issued to H. C. Henshaw for the.construction of a
filling station at the corner of Santa Fe Avenue and Beloit
Avenue.
On motion, petition was referred to City Manager to
confer with the City Planning Commission in reference to the
same.
Mayor Hargett was requested to issue a"Fire Prevention
Proclamation' ±or the week October 7th to 13th inclusive.
City- Manager, W. A. Layton submitted the name of George
Vincent as Desk Sergeant, and on motion of Commissioner Chamb-
ers the appointment was confirmed.
On motion of Commissioner Dyar, Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
