COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.

SALINA, KANSAS.
SEPTEMBER 17th, 1923
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, September
17th, 1923. Meeting was called to order by Payor Hargett, the
roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chambers
and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular 11eeting of September 10th,
1923 were read and approved as read.
An Ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak-
ing appropriations for miscellaneous purposes."
On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar
and Chambers. Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 2850.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak-
ing appropriations for miscellaneous purposes."
On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar
and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The 11ayor approved the same and
is numbered 2851.
Petitions were received asking for the curbing, gutter-
ing, excavating, grading and paving of:
Highland Avenue from Republic to Beloit,
Beloit Avenue from Ninth Street to Santa Fe,
Eleventh Street from Washington to Prescott,
The following resolutions were introduced for first
reading providing for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grad-
ing and paving of:
Beloit Avenue from Santa Fe Avenue to Ninth Street,
Eleventh Street from Washington Avenue to Prescott
Avenue,
Highland Avenue from Republic Avenue to Beloit
Avenue.,
Prescott Avenue from Eleventh Street to Twelfth
Street,
Street Railway Tracks on Santa Fe Avenue from a
point approximately 200 feet south of South treet to Pres-
cott Avenue;
Street Railway Tracks on Santa Fe Avenue from
Prescott Avenue to Crawford Avenue,
Street Railway Tracks on Santa Fe Avenue from
Crawford Avenue to Bond Street,
University Place from Baker Street to Missouri
Pacific Right"of-May.
On motion of Commissioner Dyar same were referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
A petition was received asking for the extension of
water mains on Thirteenth Street from Ash Street to State
Street. Same was referred to the City 11anager.
A petition was received asking for the construction of
a sewer on Thirteenth Street from Ash Street to State Street.
Same was referred to the City Manager.

An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance establishing maximum rates to be -charged for
gas to consumers thereof in the City of Salina, Kans-is by The
Salina Light, Power & Gas Company, amending Section 4 of Ordi-
nance No. 2459 and repealing such original section 4, and
amending and repealing all ordinances or sections or parts
thereof in conflict herewith,"
On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
Mayor Hargett appointed the following Judges and Clerks
for the Special Election of October 23rd, 1923:
FIRST WARD
Judges: E. S. Swanson, Robt. Cox, R. Be Elder,
Clerks: Ola Vincent, Helen Stoltzman
SECOND WARD, (NORTH)
Judges: 011ie Shaffer, Alma Estep, Clara Ziegler,
Clerks: Alice Barr, May Winters.
SECOND WARD, (SOUTH)
Judges: Alice Shotwell, Arthur C. Anderson,
Clerks: Pearl E. Roach, Emma Henry
THIRD WARD (NORTH)
Judges: Amos H. Barth, G. H. Smythe, I. C. Henry
Clerks: W. I. Price, H. C. Weinle.
THIRD WARD (SOUTH)
Judges: T. C. Wallace, Nellie M. Smith, Glen zergsten,
Clerks: Blanche Wilson, Helen Bergsten.
FOURTH WARD
Judges: John Kilgore, Emma J. Engborg, Geo. H. Meyer,
Clerks: Lizzie Waite, Emma Hagler.
FIFTH WARD.
Judges: W. A. Hilands, M. E. Ford, Sam Bond,
Clerks: Cora Rees, ?Iabe1 Huffman.
On motion of Commissioner Dyar the appointments were
confirmed.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance granting a right-of-way to the Missouri racific
Railroad Company, its successors and assigns for a switch track
in, over and across Pine Street and Fifth Street in the City
of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was -referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Dyar, Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
