Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, September
10th, 1923. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett,
the roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chamb-
ers and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the hegular Meeting of September lst, 1923
were read and approved as read. --
A request was received from the members of the Board of
Education of the City of Salina, Kansas, asking the 1,?ayor to
call a special election October 23rd, 1923, for the purpose
of voting on the proposition to issue School Bonds in the
amount of X225,000.00.
Commissioner Dyar moved that the request be granted, and
that the lvlayor call an election to be held October 23rd, 1923.
The following petitions were received asking for the
paving of certain streets:
Street car tracks on Santa Fe from South to Prescott;
it It tt it It it it Prescott to Crawford;
it If If if it If ±� Crawford to Bond;
University Place from Baker to Missouri Pacific Tracks;
Prescott Avenue from Eleventh t6 -Twelfth Street.
Commissioner Dyar moved that resolutions be prepared
providing for the paving of the above named streets.
A petition was received asking for the extension of
water mains on Eleventh Street from Lincoln Avenue to Grand
Avenue. Same was referred to the City Manager.
A petition was received asking for the vacation of
University Place from Baker to Twelfth Street; for the vaca-
tion of alley between Iron Avenue and University Place from
Baker to Eleventh; also for the vacation of a strip of ground
on the east side of Twelfth Street to conform with the outlet
of said street to Iron Avenue. Same was referred to the City
Manager.
City Engineer submitted the following recommendations:

To the honorable Board of Commissioners,
Salina, Kansas.
Gentlemen:
I wish to recommend to your Honorable Body -that the
curbing and guttering at the places listed below, needing
repairs, be repaired and that the City proceed to do the
work required so as to complete the same before cold weather.
I also wish to recommend that the sidewalk, at the
east approach of the Iron Avenue bridge, which has settled
in several places, be taken up and relaid to proper line and
grade, and that all joints on this sidewalk be refilled with
asphalt filler.
Also that, owing to the lack of funds in general im-
provement fund, I wish to recommend that the increasing of
the radii at the various intersections, contemplated some
months ago, be postponed until such time as the general im-
provement fund will permit the above contemplated construction.

On motion of Commissioner Chambers same were ordered
filed.
Commissioner Dyar moved that September 15th, 1923, be
the last day for filing paving petitions, on rrork to be includ-
ed in the spring contract of 1924.
Commissioner Chambers moved that sidewalk be ordered in
on the west side of Connecticut Avenue from Gypsum Avenue to
Iron Avenue. !vTotion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Dyar, Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
