08-27-1923 MinutesOZ� COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. AUGUST 27th, 1923. Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, August 27th, 1923. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett, the roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chambers and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 20th, 1923 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following Grote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2845. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the issuance of Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas in the sum of 0288,698.87 to pay the cost of improving certain streets in said City." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Har- gett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2846. A petition was received asking for the construction of a sidewalk on the west side of Connecticut Avenue from Iron Avenue to Gypsum avenue. Same was referred to the City Manager. Recommendation was received from the Chamber of Commerce relative to gas rates. On motion, same was placed on file. Protest against location of Ben hatz's junk yard on East fish Street was presented by property owners on the east side of Salina. No action taken. City Manager, W. A. Layton submitted the name of R. E. Shipe as custodian and stage manager at the Memorial Hall, same having been recommended by the Board of Directors of the Memorial Hall. On motion of Commissioner Dyar, the appointment was con- firmed. On motion, the Mayor was authorized to sign contract for the use of the auto race track in Kenwood Park to Elfrieda Mais for July 4th, and September 1st, (Labor Day) 1924. Monday, September 3rd, 1923, being the date of the Regular Meeting, and same being a holiday, Commissioner Dyar moved that Board of Commissioners adjourn and meet on Saturday September lst, 1923 at 5:00 P. M. to transact all business that might come before the Regular Meeting. City Ulerk.
