08-20-1923 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. AUGUST 20th, 1923, Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, August 20th, 1923. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett, the roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chambers and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 13th, 1923 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak- ing appropriations for miscellaneous purposes." On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and -on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chamb- ers (3) Nays (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2840. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2841. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance making a levy of taxes for general revenue and other purposes in the City of Salina, Kansas for the year 1923." On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chamb- ers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2843. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance granting to Union Pacific Railroad Company, its successors and assigns, the right to construct, maintain and operate a cross over track on Fourth Street, between Pine Street and Elm Street, connecting the main track of the McPherson Branch of Union Pacific Railroad Company with the track of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway Company." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2842. Mrs. Elfrieda Mais appeared before the Board of Commissioners and asked for the use of auto race track in Kenwood Park for July 4th and September lst (Labor Day) 1924. On motion of Commissioner Chambers, request was granted. On motion of Commissioner Dyar, Board of Commissioners adjourned. City Ulerko An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance making a special assessment and levy of taxes for the cutting of weeds on certain lots and parts of lots in the City of Salina, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chamb- ers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2844. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the issuance of Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas in the sum of 0288,698.87 to pay the cost of improving certain streets in said City." On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
