07-30-1923 Minutes1 1 COM1,1ISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR Pt2EETING. COM11ISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. JULY 30th, 1923. Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, July 30th, 1923. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett, the roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chambers and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 23rd, 1923 were read and approved as read. An Ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved,the same and is numbered 2833. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriationfor the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and chamb- ers (3 ) Nays: (0 ) The Mayor approved the same and. is numbered 2834. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance defining certain misdemeanors, and providing for the punishment of the same." On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chamb- ers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2836. R. T. Brown appeared before the Board of Commissioners and asked for a special permit to construct a building on the corner of Elm Street and Santa Fe Avenue; said building to be frame with metal lath faced with kellastone. Commissioner Dyar moved that a special permit be granted, provided Mr. Brown would construct the building as he stated. Chas. We Shaver called the attention of the Board of Com- missioners of the necessity of installing a telephone booth in the Memorial Hall Building, stating that the Telephone Company will furnish the necessary door free of charge if the City would construct the frame and place the door in position, stating that the probable cost for the above work would be about y 16.50. Commissioner Dyar moved that the same be authorized. A petition was received asking for permission to locate a Filling Station at the corner of Eighth and Ash Streets on the Chas. Hamilton lot. On motion, said petition was granted. City manager, W. A. Layton appointed A. F. Snodgrass as Patrolman, and on motion of Commissioner Chambers the appointment was confirmed. 0 1 i' On motion, City Clerk was instructed to advertise for - 1 bids for 1000 feet of two and one-half inch (22") Fire Hose, bids to be received up to and including, Monday, August 13th, 1923 at 5:00 Y. 12. On motion of Commissioner Chambers, Board of Commissionrrs adjourned. City Clerk. _�
