Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett the roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chambers and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the xegular Meeting of July 9th, 1923 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes." On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar a:d Chamb- ers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2822. An ordinance ,!7as introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2823. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropraition for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The TIayor approved the same and is numbered 2824. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of excavating,. grading, park - curbing and paving Ash Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the west line of Oakdale to the west line of Penn Avenue in said City, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3 ) Nays: (0 ) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2825. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, exca- vatin,c:*, grading and paving Minneapolis Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas from the west line of nanta Fre—Avenue to the east line of Highland A""enue therein, and relating to and provid- ing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Dv ar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chamb- ers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2826. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Phillips Street in said City from the north line of Ash Street to the sDuth line of Park Street therein, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments. On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2827. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Wilson Street in said City from the west line of Highland Avenue to the eas ne of Ninth Street therein, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chamb- ers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the s ame and is numbered 2828. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance granting to The Salina Northern railroad Company, its successors and assigns the right to construct, maintain and operate railway tracks upon and across certain streets, alleys and public grounds in the City of Salina, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final -adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3 ) Nays: ( 0 ) The Mayor approtred the s ame and is numbered 2829. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance ratifying and confirming an agreement between the City of Salina and the Union Pacific Railroad Company relative to the payment of the cost of paving, curbing and guttering Fourth Street north of the south line of Lot 120 on Fourth Street and across private property belonging to said Union Pacific H'ail- road Company, determining the amount to be paid and the manner of payment thereof." On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chamb- ers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2830. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the issuance of Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas in the sum of 45,185.00 to pay the costs of building and constructing certain lateral sewers in said City." On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the issuance of Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas in the sum of 011,085.26 to pay.the cost of building and constructing a certain storm sewer, manholes and catxhbasins in said City." On motion of Commissioner Dyar same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Application for Pool Hall License was received from Ralph E, Harmon, and on motion of Commissioner Dyar same was granted subject to the approval of the Vdelfare Board. C. R. Crave -.s submitted his resignation as a member of the City Planning Board, and on motion of Commissioner Dyar same was accepted by the Board of Commissioners. City Manager Layton submitted a report relative to the installation of an incandescent light in the alley between Fourth and Fifth Streets, mid -way between Iron Avenue and VIalnut Street, recommending that said light be installed. On motion of Commissioner Chambers, Board. of Commissioners adjourned. City Clerk*
