On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Dyar and Chambers (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2790. The following resolution was introduced for second read- ing: BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas that the excavating, grading and pav- ing of Mulberry Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the east line or FIrth Street to the west line of second Street in said City, be and the same is hereby determined to be a necessary improvement, and that said Mulberry Street in the City of Salina, Kansas be excavated, graded and paved within the limits above defined. Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Dyar, the roll was called and Commissioners Dyar and Chambers and City Attorney Buzick responded. Commissioner Hargett absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 28th, 1923 were read and approved as read. Dr. L. L. The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2795. - An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the excavating, grading, park -curbing, and paving of Ash Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the west line of Penn venue to to the west line of Oakdale Avenue in said City, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Dyar and Chambers (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. The Mayor approved the same and is -numbered 2796. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Minneapolis Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas from the vast Tine of-Highlan Avenue to the west line of Santa Fe Avenue in said City, and providing for the cost thereg of, how the same shall be assessed and manner of payment there- for." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Dyar and Chamb- ers (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering, excavat- ing, grading and poL ving Phillips Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the north line of Ash:6tFeet to the south line of Park Street in said City, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment there- for." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Dyar and Chambers (2) Nays`:: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Wilson Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the west line Of g an venue to the east line of Ninth Street in said City, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the orcH nance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Dyar and Chambers (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2799. City Engineer submitted plans and specifications and esti- mate of cost for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving: Ash Street from Oakdale Avenue to Penn; Minneapolis Ave.from Santa Fe to Highland; Phillips Street from Ash to Park; Wilson Street from Highland to Ninth. On motion of Commissioner Chambers same were adopted and approved by the Board of Commissioners, and the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for the paving of the above named streets, to be received up to and including Monday, June 11th, 1923 at 5:00 P. M. City Engineer submitted plans and specifications and esti- mate of cost for the changing of curbs at certain street inter- sections in the City of Salina, Kansas. On motion of Commissioner Chambers same were adopted and approved by the Board of Commissioners, and the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for the charging of the above mentioned curbs, bids to be received up to and including Monday, June 11th, 1923 at 5:00 P. M. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance regulating the sale of gasoline and oil upon public streets and thoroughfares within the fire limits of the City of Salina, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance regulating the sale of gasoline from curb filling stations within the fire limits of the City of Salina." On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. City Manager Layton submitted the name of W. H. Hollis, as special police, without pay from City. On motion of Commissioner Chambers the appointment was con- firmed. Application and bond for pool hall license was received from Cleto Nunez. On motion of Commissioner Chambers, same was granted subject to the approval of the Welfare Board. On motion of Commissioner Chambers, Board of Commissioners adjourned. Ulty Clerk
