Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hargett, the roll was called and Commissioners Hargett, Dyar and Chambers and Acting City Attorney Norris responded. City Attorney Buzick absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 21st, 1923 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Dyar, Hargett and Chamb- ers (3) Nays (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2777. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Charles Street in said City from the west line of Ninth Street to tTTe eas ne of Eleventh Street therein, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2778. - An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Morrison Avenue in said City from the east line of Eleventh StreeE to the west line of Twelfth Street therein, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2779. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Twelfth Street in Wd City from the south line of South Street to the north line of Morrison Avenue therein, and relating to and porividng for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num- bered 2780. The following resolution was introduced for second reading: BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas that the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving of Eleventh Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the north line of ParkStreet o the south line of Elm Street in said City, be and the same is hereby determined to be a necessary improvement, and that said Eleventh Street in the City of Salina, Kansas be curbed, guttered, excavated, graded and paved within the limits above defined. E.Banker C I yamle rk* Commissioner Dyar moved that the resolution be adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the follow- ing vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (01 Commissioner Dyar moved that the City Attorney be instructed to draft an ordinance prohibiting the sale of gasoline from tanks on the streets, and for the removal of pumps. City Engineer submitted recommendations for the rounding of corners at certain street intersections. On motion the City Engineer was instructed to prepare plans and specifications and estimate of cost as soon as possible. Commissioner Dyar moved that in the future all increased space on radiuses should be constructed of brick instead of concrete as heretofore. A petition was presented from property owners on the east side of the amoky Hill River asking that street car service be continued as heretofore. On motion same was referred to the City Manager. Commissioner moved that the date of receiving petitions for the paving to be included in the spring contract be September 1st, 1923. A petition was presented asking for the excavating, grading and paving of Mulberry Street from Fifth Street to Second Street. A resolution was introduced for first reading providing for the excavating, grading and paving of Mulberry Street from Fifth Street to Second Street. On motion of Commissioner Dyar same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments bn certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Eleventh Street in said City from the north line of Prescott Avenhe to the south line of Charles Street therein, and relating to and providing for the collection and pay- ment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Eleventh Street in said City from the south line of Charles St et to the north line of Crawford Avenue therein, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Phillips Street -in said City from the north line of -Ark.- Street to the so f line of Bishop Street there- in, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Dyar same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Tenth Street in said City from the south line of Crawford Avenue to the north line of Frost Street there- in, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: - "An ordinance providing for the excavating, grading, park -curbing and paving of Ash Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the west line of O_a7 a re venue to the west line of Penn Avenue in said City, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Dyar the same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving of Minneapolis Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas from the west 1 ne or santa re Avenue to the -east line of Highland Avenue in said City, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled.: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering excavating, grading and paving Philli s Street in the City of Aalina, Kansas from the north line or Ash street to the south line of Park Street in said City, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Dyar same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering, exca`a ting, grading and paving of Wilson Street in the City of Salina, Kan- sas from the west line of Hi-gHland Avenue to the east line of --- Ninth Street in said City, and providing for the cost thereof how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment there- for." On motion of Commissioner Chambers same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Dyar, Board of Commissioners adjourned. City uIerice
