Meeting was called to order by I:layor I -a: -gets-, the roll was called- and. Comm3ssioners3 IIargFtt, Dyar anal Chambers and City Attorney Buzick responded. The minutes of the Regular I.Ieetirig of Ilay 14th, 1923, were read and approved as read.. An ordinance was introduced entitled: ".''gin ordinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes." On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The I.,Iayor approved the same and is numbered 2770. On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: I-Tar�ett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The `Tayor approved the same and is numbered 2775. An ordinance was introduced for- second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of excavating, grading, curbing, guttering and paving Elm Street in said City from the west line of Ninth Street to the east _ ne of College Avenue therein, (except the intersections of INielfth Street and Thirteenth Street whicli are already paved), and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll -was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hargett, Dyar and Chambers (3) Nays: (0) The L'layor approved the same and is numbered 2776. A special permit was granted to the i'eterson Cil Company for the construction of a building on North Fourth Street. A special permit was granted to R. A. Reaniin for the construction of a corrugated iron building on North Santa i`e Avenue. A petition was presented asking for the curbing, gutter- ing excavating, and paving of i�'ifth Street from the north line of'lm Street to the south line o or i reet. A petition was presented asking for the curbing, gutter- ing, excavating and paving of Spruce Street from the east line of Phillips Street to the West line of Baker Street. "ayor Hargett appointed T. ,.�. Roach as a member of the Vlelfare Board, and on motion of Commissioner Dyar the appoint- ment was confirmed. Coimiissioner Dyar moved that the City Manager be author- ized to purchase the necessary asphalt kettle to be used by the Street Department for the repairing of asphalt streets in the City of Salina, Kansas. On motion of Cominiss Toner Dyar same was i-eferred to the Board of Cormnissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating; to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of -ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavat- ing, grading and paving Morrison Avenue in. said City from the east line of L,�leventh StreettotFwr�estline of 'twelfth Street therein., and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Chambers same vias referred to the Board of Commissioners.
