Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Dyar, the roll was called and Commissioners Dyar and Chambers and City Attorney Buzick responded. Mayor Hargett absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 30th, 1923, were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called_ and the following vote was had: Ayes: Dyar a, -d Chambers (2) lays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2764. An ordinance was introduced for second reading; entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and t)ieces of ground in the City of Salina, ransas to pay the cost of excavating, grading; and paving; Ash Street from the east dine of Fenn Avenue 'to the west line of UBio Street in said City, and relating; to and providing_ for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopyed b„ sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Dyar and Chambers (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. An ordinance was introduced for second :reading entitled: "An ordinance relating; to and. apportioning; and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Beloit Avenue in the City of 6alina, Kansas from the east line of Santa'e %venue to the west line of the I'Teiherson Branch Railroad Right -of -';+ay of the Union Pacific =rail- road Company in said City and relating; to and providing; for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its f'i_nal adoption the roll was called and the following., vote was had; eyes* Dyar and Chambers (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. An ordinance was introduced for second reading, -entitled: "An ordinance relating, to and apportioning; and levying; special assessmnets on certain lots and Dieces of <Tround in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and raving Cedar Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the west line of Baker Street to the east line of rhillips Street in said City, alid relating_ to and i:roviding for the payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was reed and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following; vote was had; .yes: Dyar and Chambers (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. An ordinalce was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special Assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of jLansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering;, excavating, Salina, grading; and paving Gypsum Avenue in said City from the east line of Front atreet to the east line of Columbia Avenue t}ierein, and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was re,d and adopted bar sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Dyar- and Chambers (2 Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. U An ordinance was introduced. for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of` ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Penn Avenue in said City from the north line of Ash Street to the south line of Elm Street therein, and re- lating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Chambers the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Dyar and Chambers (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. The following resolution was introduced for second re9d- ing: BE IT E,ESOLVEi) by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas that the construction of an eight (8) inch sanitary sewer lateral in Lateral Sewer District Number 7-C heretofore established and defined by ordinance, is an improvement necessary to be made and done, and that said sever lateral shall extend in said lateral sewer district between the following limits �.nd bounds along the following course: Commencing at the present manhole at the intersection of nark Street and Phillips Street, running thence south on Phillips Street 450 feet. Ianholes as designated on plans. AND BE IT P'UPTHj4R RESOLVED that all the cost and expense of eonstructiong said sewer lateral be paid b7- the levy of a special assessment upon the lots and parcel. s of land within said Lateral Sewer District Number 7-C as provided by law. Attest: On motion of Coymnissioner Chambers the resolution was adopted as read, and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was lead; Ayes: Dyar and Chambers (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. The matter of purchasing bloodhounds was discussed by the Commissioners, Chief of kolice and Sheriff. Same was taken under advisement by the Board of Commis- sioners. Application and bond was received from Geo. McCullick for a Pool Hall 4cense. On motion, same was granted subject to the approval of the vvelfare Board. Statutory Bond from the American Seating Company was received and ordered filed. Mayor Hargett submitted the names of: Russell Cravens, 3 ,years P.irs. Geo. Watson, 3 ,yrs. Fred Ziegler, 2 Ralph finderson 2 r. rs. 3). R. Ifoore, 1 " Theo. 1 . Vlorsley, 1 " T. Campbell 3 years to act as members of the "City Planning Commission." Dear Air, Banker: I want to express to the City Commissioners, through ,yourself as City Clerk, our great -appreciation for the splendid floral tribute that was sent at the time of the death of our beloved. father, ?J. S. Amos. It was surely a beautiful tribute and hover flowers do speak in even greater expression than words, our feelings at such a time.
