An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the construction of certain water service pipes in the City of Salina, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Hargett same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the construction of certain sewer service pipes in the City of Salina, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A petition was presented asking for the curbing, gutter- ing, excavating, grading and paving of Wilson Street from Highland Avenue to Ninth Street. Same was re erred to the City Yanager. A petition was presented asking for the installation of an are light at the corner of Euclid Avenue and Ninth Street. Same was referred to the City Manager. Bids were received for the construction of certain paving as advertised for as follows: Globe Construction Company, Wichita, Kansas. Jas. Stanton Construction Co. Leavenworth, �.ansas. 1% R. Amerman, Wichita, Kansas. Commissioner Hargett moved that the bid. of IT. R. Amerman be accepted for vertical fiber side wire cut brick at X3.18 per square ,yard; and that the certified checks be returned to the unsuccessful bidders. Motion adopted. Bids for the construction of certain sewers as advertised for were received as follows: Amerman & Snyder, Iffiehita� Kansas. Salina Plumbing Company, 6'alina, Kansas. After the tabulation of the bids it was found that both bids were higher than the City Engineers estimate for said work, as the City engineer had submitted his estimate of cost for machine excavating and the bidders claimed that the job was too small for machine work, so they figured tl•eir prices on hand .excavating. Cin motion of Commissioner Hargett both bids were reject- ed, and the City Engineer was instructed to revise his estimate of cost, and the City Engineer was instructed to re -advertise for bids to be received up to and including Thursday, I' -larch 2914 1923 -t five oIclock P. M. Motion adopted. Commissioner nargett moved that all bids on electric light fixtures for the Memorial Hall be rejected, and that t' -.e City Clerk advertise for bids to be received up to April 7th, 1923 at one o'clock P. ;-K.
