01-02-1923 Minutes146 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. C011MISSIONERS ROOM, S1.LINA , KANS AS. JANUARY 2nd, 1923. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, January 2nd, 1923. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Dyar the roll was called and Commissioners Campbell, Dyar and Hargett and City Attorney Buzick responded. The minutes of the xegular Meeting of December 26th, 1922 and the Adjourned Meeting of December 30th, 1922 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and Hargett (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2644. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of excavating, grading and paving Elm Street from the east line of Third Street to the west line of ron'� Street in said City, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and Hargett (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2646. On motion of Commissioner Hargett the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and Hargett (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2647. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating grading and paving Twelfth Street in said City from the north line of State Street to the sou line of Ash Street therein, aid relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and Hargett (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2650. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing and guttering Johns- town Avenue in said City from the east line of Front Street to the west line of Oakdale Avenue therein, and relating to and �i providing for the collection and payment of such assessments. On motion of Commissioner Hargett the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and Hargett (3) Nays: (0) The mayor approved. the sam4§ and is numbered 2651. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to Pay. the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating grading and paving Elm Street from the east side of Elm Street Bridge to the west side of Ohio Street in said City and relat- ing to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Hargett the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and Hargett (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2653. The following resolution was introduced for second reading BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of tie City of Salina, Kansas that the excavating, grading; and paving d' Claflin Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas from the east line of Sana Pe venue to tree west line of Fourth Street in said City, be and the same is hereby determined to be a necessary im- provement, and that said Claflin Avenue in the City of Salina, r';ansas be excavated, graded andpaved within the limits above defined. On motion of Commissioner Hargett same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading providing for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving of College Avenue from the north line of Spruce Sreet to the north line of 6outhtreet. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading providing for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving of College Avenue from the south line of Walnut Street to the north line of Spruce Street. On motion of Commissioner Hargett same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading providing for the excavating, grading and paving of Ash Street from the east ;ine of Penn Avenue to the west line of Ohio Street. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading providing for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving of Morrison Avenue from the east line of Eleventh Street to the west line of Twelfth Street. On motion of Commissioner Hargett same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading providing for the curbing, guttering, excavating, gradin; and paving of Ninth Street from the north line of Bond Street to the south line or 711son Street. . On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A petition was received asking for the vacation of the alley between Santa Fe Avenue and Fourth Street from Jewell Avenue south 120 feet. Same was referred to the City Manager. A deed from The Saline County Historical Society, granting a certain tract of ground marking a historical rock east of the City was presented, and on motion of Commissioner Hargett same was accepted by the Board of Commissioners.
