12-11-1922 Minutes14 r COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONF.RS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. DECEMBER 11th, 1922. i Board of Commissioners met in regular session, December 11th, 1922. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Dyar, the roll was called and Commissioners Campbell and Dyar and City At torney Buzick responded. Commissioner Hargett absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 4th, 1922 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and Dyar (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2631. The following resolution was introduced for second read - ing : BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas that the Salina Water Works Company be and it is hereby instructed and ordered ti lay and install - a six-inch water main, with water hydrants located as directed by the Fire Chief of said City, on Crawford Avenue from Ninth Street to Tenth Street. The following resolution was introduced for second reading: 11115- I 5 I BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas that the curbing, guttering, exca- vating, grading and paving of Eleventh Street in the City of Salina, Kansas, from the south line of Charles Street to the north line of Crawford Avenue in said City, be and the same Is hereby determined to be a necessary improvement, and that said Eleventh Street in the City of Salina, Kansas be curbed, guttered, excavated, graded and paved within the limits above defined. A resolution was introduced for first reading providing for the laying and installing of a 6 -inch water main on Eighth Street.+ from Hamilton Street to Harsh Street. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. j A resolution was introduced for first reading providing for the excavating, grading and paving of Eleventh Street from the south line of Iron Avenue to the north line of WalnutStreet. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to � i the Board of Commissioners. The following resolution was introduced for first read- ing, providing for the leasing of the four north rooms on the third floor of the City Hall Building to the Salina Chamber of j - Commerce for a term of five years at a total rental of $5.00 for said term. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. The following resolution was introduced for first reading: E E r � f WHA' +'AS, there was on June 28th, 1922, according to the terms of Ordinance Number 2517, assessed against the North 65 feet of the west 240 feet of Lot Number 10 in Oakdale Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas the sum of $27.63 for the purpose of paying a portion of the cost of building and con- structing a 10 -inch Sanitary Lateral Sewer in Lateral Sewer District Number 1-E in the City of Salina, Kansas, and WHEREAS$' the property hereinbefore described and against which said assessment was so made was not benefited by said lateral sewer, and WHEREAS, said assessment was so made by inadvertance and mistake, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas that said assessment of 027.63 so levied and assessed against the property before described be remitted and not collected and that the County officials of Saline County, Kansas, be, and they are hereby authroized and directed to remit the same and to strike the levy and assessment of said sum from the tax roll of said County. Commissioner Campbell moved that resolution be adopted as read and at this meeting because of a public emergency making the same necessary, and on its`final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and Dyar (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. The following petitions asking for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving of the following named streets were presented: Claflin Avenue from Santa Fe Avenue to McPherson Branch Tracks; Phillips Street from Park Street to Bishop Street; Tenth Street from Crawford Avenue to Frost Street; Gypsum Avenue from Front Street to Columbia Avenue. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the above petitions were referred to the City Manager. 1 Commissioner Campbell moved that all petitions asking for paving for the spring contract should be filed with the City Clerk on or before December 26th, 1922.
