Board of Commissioners met in regular session October 2nd, 1022. r.Meetinr; was called to order by Mayor Dyar the roll was I called and Commissioners Campbell, Dyar and -Hargett and City Attorney Buzick responded. The minutes of the Regular sleeting of September 25th,, 1C22 were read and approved as read. - An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner IT argett the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and Hargett (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2604. An ordinance ,,,,as introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Ilargett the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote ,-las had; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and Hargett (3) Ways: (0) The ',Mayor approved the same and is numoered 2606. The following resolution was introduced for second re -dine: BE Ii RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas that the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving of _'leventh Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the north line of Prescott avenue to the south line of Charles Street in said. City, be and the same s hereby deter- mined to be a neces:-ary improvement, and that said ;,leventh Street in the City of Salina, Kansas be curbed, guttered, exca- vated, graded and paved within the limits above defined.. On ,potion of Commissioner Campbell the resolution was adopted as read by the following: vote; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and. Hargett. (3) lays: (0) A resolution iias introduced for first reading providing "for the laying of a six-inch water main from the end of present ?Hain at the intersection of lJorrison Avenue and College .'.venue, thence ir�iest on Morrison Avenue to 11ontrose Avenue, thence north on :.Montrose Avenue to connect with a tyro -inch main on Montrose Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Hargett same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A petition signed by L. B. Bowers, I -resident of the Kansas Viesleyan University and T. PLoach, President of Board of Trus- tees of the Kansas Vlesleyan University, was received, asking for the paving of Claflin :venue from highland Avenue to Santa Fe Avenueq and on motion same was referred to the City ILanag,er. A petition was received from citizens protesting against the weak pressure from gas supplied by The Salina Light, Po?rfer & Gas Company. i w. P:alone, Manager of the Salina Light, Power & Gas Com - piny being present, offered an explanation to the Board of Com- missioners and assured the Commissioners that the Company was doing all in their power to relieve the condition. City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for the sale of the buildings on lot on :;est Iron Avenue recently condemned for the opening of Faulkner Street, bids to be received up to and including Monday, October 9th, 1922 at 5 o'clock P. M. City Clerk was also instructed to advertise for bids for the extension of the tourer on the City Building to an additional height of twelve (12) feet, bids to be received up to and includ- ing Monday, October 9th, 1922 at 5 o1clock P. M. Ellen Nyberg, City Stenographer, was granted a. two weeks vacation. On motion of Commissioner Hargett, Board of Commissioners adjourned. City clerk. 1 1 103
