Sr'FT.0c1BER 25t1 -.i, 1922 Board of Commissioners met in regular session September 25th, 1922. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Dyar, the roll was called and Commissioners Campbell, Dyar and Hargett and Act- ing City Attorney Buzick responded. The minutes of the Regular 14eeting of September 18th, 1922 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and. adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and Hargett (3) Nays: (0) The Layor approved the same and is numbered 2601. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim.." On notion of Conimissioner Hargett the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and Hargett (3) ldays : (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2602. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and Hargett (3) Nays: (0) The tvtayor approved the same and is numbered 2603. A resolution was introduced for first reading providing, for the curbing, guttering and paving of Eleventh Street from Prescott Avenue to Charles Street. On motion of Commissioner Hargett same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. The following resolution was introduced for second reading: BE IT 11LESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas that The Salina 'j:,-ater Viorks Company be and it is hereby instructed and ordered to lay and install a six-inch water main, with water hydrants located as directed by the Fire Chief of said City, from the end of its present main at the intersection of Kansas Avenue and Tlm Street thence east on Elm Street to Ohio Street. Layton appointed the following named special police to serve without pay from City: Clarence TvTarsh, d Sa?npey, Raymond Shipe, C. G. Brady, Maul Charbonneau, E. F. Sranson. Layton appointed the following named special police to serve from September 26th to September 30th, 1922: Marry Yoder, .T. E. Fisher, Oscar Lind, A. F. Snodgrass. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the appointments were confirmed. U. A. Skelley of the Salina Plumbing Company appeared before the Commissioners and stated that their Company had repaired a viater leak on Seventh Street presuming same to be New Theatre prop- erty, but finding the leak was an old service connection and same not belonging to the New Theatre property, and asked who would be liable for the cost of said work. The matter was referred to the City Attorney. s,'. C. T. U. presented proposition of social and educational work among the hTexicans and asked the City to assist to•extent of payinm 'rent for a room at x,10.00 per month and coal. On motion of Commissioner Hargett the City Commissioners agred to pay rent of room for six months and coal. J. I. Swartz appeared before the Commissioners and asked for a special permit to build a small addition to Gross faint Shop on North Seventh Street, said wall to be nine inches thick.
