Commissioner Campbell moved that all concessions for the sale of refreshments and the like durinF, the time of The rageant of Progress be granted to the Retail Ivlerchants Association, and they to have the privilege of letting; whatever concessions may go in on terms to be determined by them, covering the territory between North Fifth Street and North Seventh Street and Ash Street and Elm Street, and also Santa Fe Avenue from '�)'alnut Street to Missouri Pacific Railroad. Motion carried. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the folloring vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and Dyar (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance vacating and discontinuing an alley running from the north line of fine Street to a line parallel with and 200 feet north of said north line of Pine Street and lying east of the rear end of Lots 113, 13, 15 and 17 on Fourth Street and vrest of the rear end of Lots 12, 14, 16 and 18 on Third btreet of the original town of Salina, Kansas." I City Engineer submitted the following report as to the defective condition of the curb and gutter on the north side of Ash Street between Front Street and Oakdale Avenue: Salina, Kansas. September 11, 1922. To the Board of Commissioners, City of Salina, Kansas. Gentlemen: I viish to report the following: Due to the settling of the sub -grade the curb and gutter constructed on the north side of Ash Street between Front Street and Oakdale Avenue has settled in three or four places leaving water pockets in the gutter at those points. This condition should be remedied before paving is put on said street. It will be necessary to re -place about 200 feet of the above mentioned curb and gutter and put same to the established grade so that water will drain from the streets. respectfully submitted, (Signed) i+Vm. Commissioner Campbell moved that the Smith -Graham Construc- tion Company be allowed the contract to make the necessary change of parking at Bishop Street and North Twelfth Street, and also to pave the approach of west end of 1-lalnut Street Bridge from where the paving ends to the bridge. blotion carried. Riotion was made to instruct the City Manager and Chief of Police to close a deal with The Salina Buick Company for a five - passenger, six -cylinder Buick Automobile as per terms of offer on recent bid. Motion was ,Wade by Commissioner Campbell, by request of City L,`igineer that in case any change is made in sewer at rear of new building of National Bank of !=America at Iron Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue as per request of bank, that same be rade at the expense of the Bank. Commissioners authorized City Iliana er to employ a watchman to be stationed at Elm Street and Santa Fe Avenue from this date until the close of The Pageant of Progress.
