Board of Commissioners met in regular session, July
10th, 1922. ITeeting was called to order by I.1ayor Dyar the
roll was called and Commissioners Campbell and Dyar and City
Attorney Buzick responded. Commissioner Hargett absent.
The minutes of the negular Meeting of July 3rd, 1922
were read and approved as read.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entit-
led: "An ordinance providing for the construction of certain
sewers in the City of Salina, Kansas, letting the contract
therefor and providing for the payment of the cost thereof."
on motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was
read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the
roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Camp-
bell and Dyar (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent.
The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2534.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance
making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Cormnissioner Campbell the rodinance was
read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the
roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Camp-
bell and Dyar (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent.
The 11ayor approved the same and is numbered 2535.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City
of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, exca-
vating and paving Republic Avenue in said City from the west
line of Santa Fe Avenue o e east line of Highland Avenue in
said City and relating to and providing for the collection
and payment of such assessments."
On motion of Cormnissioner Campbell the ordinance was
read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the
roll was called and the following vote was hadAyes: Camp-
bell and Dyar (2) Nays: (0) ComAyes:
absent.
The Mayor approved the same and is nwnbered 2536.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City
of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, exca-
vating and paving Republic Avenue in said City from the west
line of Highland Avenue to the erst line of Ninth Street in
said City and relating to and providing for the collection
and payment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was
read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the
roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Camp-
bell and Dyar (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent.
The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2537.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City
of Salina, Kanszs to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, exca-
vating and paving Republic venue in said City from the east
line of Fifth Street - o the ea -s - -line of Santa Fe Avenue in
said City and relating to and providing for the collection
and payment of such assessments.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was
read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the
roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Camp-
bell and Dyar (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent.
The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2538.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City
of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbin£, guttering, exca-
vating and paving Milson Street in said City from the east
line of Santa Fe Avenue tome`west line of Fifth Street in
said City and 'relating to and providing for the collection
and payment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Ca;npbell the ordinance was
read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the
roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Camp-
bell and Dyar (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent.
The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2539.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City
of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, exca-
vating and paving Ninth Street in said City from the south
line of Republic Avenue to north line of Jewell Avenue in
said City and relating to and providing for the collection
and payment of such assessments."
On ;notion of Cormtissioner Campbell the ordinance was
read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the
roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Camp-
bell and Dyar (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent.
The Mayor approved the same and is nwibered 2540.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying; special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City
of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, exca-
vating and paving Bond Street in said City from the west line
of Highland A enue to�he east line of Ninth Street in said
City and relJing to and providing for the collection and pay-
ment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was
read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the
roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Camp-
bell and Dyar. (2) Nays: (0) Cons-nissioner Hargett absent.
The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2541.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City
of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, exca-
vating and paving Bond Street in said City from the west line
of Fifth Street to the east 7ine of Santa Fe Avenue in said
City and relating to and providing for the collection and pay-
ment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was
read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the
roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell
and Dyar (2) Flays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. The
Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2542.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assesements on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City
of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, exca-
vating and paving Crawford Avenue in said City from the west
line of Fifth Street to the east line of Santa Fe Avenue in said
City and relating to and providing for the collection and pay-
ment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and
Dyar (2 ) Nays: (0 ) Co:cnnissioner Hargett absent. The Mayor
approved the same and'is numbered 2543.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of
Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, exca-
vating and paving Baker Street in said City from the south line
of Walnut Street to the Horth line of South Street in said
City and relating to and providing for the collection and pay-
ment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and
Dyar (2) Nays: (0) Commissioher Hargett absent. The Mayor
approved the same and is numbered 2544.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of
Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavat-
ing and paving Ohio Street from the north line of Iron Avenue
to the south line of Ash eet in said City and relating to
and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll'was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and
Dyar. (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. The May-
or approved the same and is numbered 2545.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance defining certain misdemeanox,s and providing a
penalty for the violation thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to
the Board of Coi missi oners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance amending Section 1 of Ordinance Number 2461 and
repealing said original section."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
A petition signed by H. E. Johnson was presented, asking
for the vacation of Hope Street in Sunnyside Addition to the
City of Salina, Kansas.
Same was referred for further consideration.
Bond of H. T. `.feldin for the construction of certain side-
walks as per his bid of July 3rd, 1922 was presented, and on
motion of Commissioner Campbell same was approved and ordered
filed.
Application for Junk Dealers License was received from
Louie Iledov.
City Manager Layton, at the request of Roy Bendure, Special
Officer of the Union Pacific Railroad Company appointed the fol -
;owing special police:
Charley Arterburn, Grant H. Bronson
R. A. Mayo Clarence B. Martin
Minor B. McCrary Richard F. 11anning ,
Richard J. Pounder.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the appointments were
confirmed.
City Engineer was instructed to prepare preliminary plans
for the proposed paving.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
