SALINA, KANSAS.
JULY 3rd, 1922.
Board of Commissioners met in regular session, July 3rd,
1,:22. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Dyar, the roll was
called and Commissioners Campbell, Dyar and Hargett and City
Attorney Buzick responded.
The minutes of the Regular i.reeting of June 26th, 19229
were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak-
ing an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adorted b: sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and
I11argett (3) Nays: (0) Tr.:e Mayor approved the same and is num-
bered 2530.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: ".:fin ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Hargett the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar
and Hargett (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 2531.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim.`
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes; Campbell, Dyar
and 'Hargett (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 2532.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriations for miscellaneous purposes."
On motion of Commissioner Hargett the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and
Hargett (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num-
bered 2533.
An ordinance was int roduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the construction of certain storm sewers
in the City of Salina, Kansas, letting the contract therefor and
providing for the payment of the cost thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was referred
to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of
Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating
and paving itepublie Avenue in said City from the west line of
Santa Fe Avenue to the east line of Highland Avenue in said City
and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of
such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Hargett the ordinance was referred
to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance realating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of
Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating
and paving Republic Avenue in said City from the west line of
Highland Avenue t6 -the easF line of Ninth Street in said City
and. relating to and providing for the collection and payment of
such assessments."
On motion of CommissionerCampbell the ordinance was referred
to the Board of Commissioners.

An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying; special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City ! —�
of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, exca-
vating and paving Republic Avenuein said City from the east
line of Fifth Street to the east line of Santa Fe Avenue in
said City and relating to and providing for the collection and
payment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Hargett the ordinance was re-
ferred to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City
of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, exca-
vating and paving Wilson Street in said City from the east
line of Santa Fe Avenue to the west line of Fifth Street in
said City and relating to and providing for the collection and
payment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was re-
ferred to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced. for first reading entitled.:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City
of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, exca-
vating and paving Ninth Street in said City from the south
line of Republic Avenue to the north line of Jewell Avenue in
said City and relating to and proviiding for the collection and
payment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Hargett the ordinance was re-
ferred to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City
of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, exca-
vating and paving Bond Street in said City from the west line
of Highland Avenue to E e east line of Ninth Street in said
City and relating to and providing for the collection and
payment of such assessments.'
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was re-
ferred to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City
of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, exca-
vating and paving Bond Street in said City from the west line
of Fifth Street to the east line of Santa Fe AT,enue in said
City and relating to and providing for the collection and pay-
ment of such assessments."
On :Motion of Commissioner Hargett the ordinance was re-
ferred to the Board of Commissioners.

An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of
Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, exca-
vating and paving Crawford Avenue in said City from the west
line of Fifth Street to the east line of Santa Fe Avenue in
said City and relating to and providing for the collection and
payment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was re-
ferred to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of
Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavat-
ing and paving Baker Street in said City from the south line of
Walnut Street to the no line of South Street in said City and
relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such
assessments.
On motion of Commissioner Hargett the ordinance was re-
ferred to the Board of Commissioners.

An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of
Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, exca-
vating and paving Ohio Street in said City from the north
line of Iron Avenue to -_tHe south line of rash Street in said
City and relating to and providing for the collection and
payment of such assessments.
On ?notion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
Applications for Pool Hall License for the last half of
10,22 were received from:
Clayton Billiard Parlor,
C. M. Allen,
G. T. Knight,
W . A . 'VVilhelm,
C. H. Benjamin,
Geo. Holzmeister,
Geo. P. Smith,
17. E. Gordon,
Maze Smoke House,
J. E. Badger,
George Raridon,
Lamer Pool Hall.
On motion of Commissioner Hargett license was issued to
the above named parties to operate a Pool Hall for the last
half of 1922.
City Manager reported on the remonstrance protesting against
the curbing, guttering and paving of Fenn Avenue from Ash 6treet
to Elm Street, stating that there are sufficient signers on
said remonstrance to defeat the resolution adopted by the Board
of Commissioners, May lst, 1922.
A communication was received from The International 11ar-
vester Company to sell to the City of Salina a tractor that has
been used by the Street Department for 4400.00.
Commissioner Hargett moved that the proposition be ac-
cepted.
Bids for the construction of sidewalks as advertised for
were received from:
H. T. "eldin,
J. Saum and V1. L. Same.
Commissioner Campbell moved that the contract be awarded
to H. T. leldin as per his bid.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
